Sorry, Jeff, I logged off right before you asked your question this morning.

I can't tell you what Scobee is like on a weekday but my guess is that there wouldn't be much of a crowd until after 4:30 or so. If you do go flying today, have a nice time. The weather's GREAT today!

Harvey

Thanks, I went but it was pretty windy, and a 90deg crosswind at that. Just flew once. Too bad because I don't have much time to fly now until next week.

Hello all, moving to Houston, is there a paved strip field near the Spring-Cypress/249/1960FM area?

Flying mostly small EDF's

Thanks, regards

Not sure about a field there. But I just helped a guy at Scobee fly his F-16 foam EDF with wire landing gear, and having all that space was excellent for even the small EDF.

Hi, no membership needed. Its a state park field. Just AMA license.

I am a Bayou City Flyer's member. I tell you what, there is not a better value anywhere. Sure, you can come out and fly with your AMA card. But the coffee, fridge, snacks, and A/C clubhouse are reserved for members! Membership is about 20-25% of any other club I have looked at, as well.

If you are into electrics, New Creations in Willis - http://www.newcreations-rc.com/- is the place to shop. Kirk is extremely knowledgeable about electrics and his shop is pretty well stocked. There is also a club out that way called Barnstormers - not paved, but a nice field.

Sorry for reviving an older thread, but thought it would best if i wrote in a thread related to flying airfields in Houston. Im new to the hobby, flying RC electric gliders and really want to fly a Wing. I live close to Tomball, and the flying airfield by me is very small, essentially mainly for take off and landing, the rest of the land is some farmers land with cows. The flyers i met were very friendly, but also very experienced flying mainly their Nitro planes. I'm not sure how im supposed to learn how to fly with such a small field. I do have my AMA and was wondering if there are any fields i can check out and fly that would have room enough for me to fly/crash learn. If anyone, has any recommendations, i would really appreciate it.

thank you
