Default GLOBAL QUALITY KITS - SKYLANE PARTS

I don't know where to post this but I have some questions:

Somebody gave me a set of plans for the Global Quality Kits Skylane .45-61, designed by Bob McVickar and I was wondering.
1) Does Global Quality Kits have a website?
2) Can the model parts (i.e: ribs, formers, landing gear blocks, firewall, etc) or a short kit still be purchased or is this plane discontinued?
3) Can the cowl and windshields still be purchased?
4) Can an online manual be downloaded?

Any other info would be great.

I think they are now http://www.globalhobby.net/ so I would start with an email to them to verify and see what they know.

You can always send the plans to a kit-cutter but that probably would not be real cheap on a one-time basis.

I am having problems right now that I don't understand.
My Kadet MarkII and Great Planes PT40 both had the engines running nicely while taxing, but suddenly they stopped turning over and never found out why. No matter what we did we couldn't get them running again. Don't know if we were using the wrong fuel (even though it was recommended by my LHS), but it is too much of a coincidence that both engines won't run now. Tried changing glowplugs, fuel lines, batteries but just got too costly so I had to put them aside for the rest of the summer.

I hope the engines didn't burn out, it has to be the fuel because why would BOTH engines stop running at the same time?
I think I will convert the two to electric when I can and give up on nitro. The money spent on trying to solve this prob could have paid for the electric conversions.

Will not worry about it til Spring. Also still working on house foreclosure, getting hot water fixed, bankruptcy, and trying to have a holiday, and still didn't get my Social Security back yet. Will have to get a lawyer for the last.

I was just wondering if it would be beneficial to keep the plans or get rid of them as the parts/short kit won't be locateable.

You can cut your own parts. Not as easy but........... cheaper if done right. Can be done with basic hand tools and time.

I understand that but I do not have a skill saw or similiar, and how would I cut out the firewall and other plywood parts?

Instead of using the formers on the plans is it possible to build entirely out of balsa/hardwood stringers to form the formers that way?

And there is no views of the wing ribs so how do I know the proper shape of them (as you all know with Skylanes and Skylarks the wing gets thinner towards the tips) and the proper placements of the spar cutouts?

shd3920,
This thread is a few years old, so i don't know if you're still looking for the manual. If you send me a PM i can scan the manual and e-mail it to you.

Mijaeldellien,
I have the plan for the Global Skylane. If you want to pay for shipping and to have the plan scanned i am willing to get it copied.

I know this is an older post but did you end up building the Skylane? I started working on one and wanted to know how it went for you.

Default Global Skylane instruction manual

AlmondRancher,

I have the wing plan, and about a 1/3 complete fuselage for my Skylane. I can't find the instruction manual If you would be willing to email me a copy, I would greatly appreciate it! PM me please, and thanks!

It just so happens that I have a Global Quality Kits Skylane kit that I don't have plans for.
If you would like to sell them or get a copy made of them, I would be more that happy to compensate you for them.
Or maybe you'd like to buy this complete kit with instructions, but no plans

dear Almond,
I recently purchased the Skylane kit but the manual was missing.
I know you posted your answer 5 years ago, but is it still possible that you could e-mail the manual to me?
I would like that very much!

With kind regards
Wim, Netherlands

Hi Allan,

Thread is even older now : -)
If you've scanned the manual, would you be so kind to upload it here? If it exceeds the max file size, could you please drop me a private message?

Thanks in advance !
