Can anyone help with this engine?
I have a old OS nitro engine from 1964. The engine was worked on for a month by me ad still only chugs and sputters then dies. I will get a gasket sealant from a auto store so there wont be a chance of air leaks. I also need to seal my carb bolts from fuel leaks because they are custom made and may be faulty. Should i get a electric starter for it? Where do i get one that is very cheap? Like thirty dollars or so?

but unless you are going to hook it up to the car, you will need a battery

Other sources of air leak are:
O-ring in base of carburator, gone hard with time.
Expanded flat bearing, which is not repairable.
Regards!

You need to communicate what this engine is to get any effective help that is not just speculation. OS is not enough. Going back that far could mean a hugh variety of widely varied types. Picture or two would of tremendous help also any numbers or lettering imprinted on the crankcase. Is this engine a controlline engine or an RC engine (controlline OS engines were far more common in 1964 than RC engines) with a throttle on it?

As John said, there are any number of engines from that period so it'd be best to know just which one it is. If you're not completely sure then go to [link=http://www.osengines.com/history/ostimeline03.html]this[/link] link and find the one that matches yours. In general though, and without more information, there's a couple of things common to all these engines that could cause your symptoms. If the liner is in back to front or the piston fitted backwards (or both ) you'll have all sorts of problems. They'll run but barely. For the liner, the exhaust port is the one that opens first as the piston is coming down but you'd really need to take off the head to see because the baffle on top of the piston blocks your view towards the transfer port. For the piston, the baffle has to be on the side furthest away from the exhaust port.
None of the engines from that period should be run using common RC fuels.
