I use a drill bit or hex wrench. Get a size that easily slides inside the tube but is not too loose. Pull on the drill bit until the brass tube starts to bend. As you are bending press the tube against your thumb to help shape the bend and prevent the tube from breaking.

Photo 1: Start the bend slowly. Use your thumb to shape the bend.

Get a set of tube bending tools from your local hardware or home improvement store. These tools are springs that slip over the tubing which will allow you to bend the tubing without it breaking.

I've used all three of the above mentioned methods and they all work great.

Something else you can do is to replace the brass tubing with copper tubing (Available at auto parts stores)

It bends MUCH easier without kinking

I have this one from Dubro and it works pretty well
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXE228&P=7
I also have the K&S spring type and they also work well

Someone told me they slide weedeater string into the tube, bend, then pull out the string. I've never tried that.

I have heard that you can also fill it with water and freeze it, then bend it with the ice inside, then let it thaw.  But the sand or salt is the same principle and would probably be faster than waiting for the water to freeze.

Any of the above is fine. I also have use a piece of throttle cable in side the tube. Salt is a nice idea as it is always around.
