How to glue magnets to foam
Hi, I'm try to add small earth magnets to the hatch of my foam jet. The magnets are really strong. I'm thinking if I ca glue them, once the 2 magnets come togehter, when I lift the hatch off, it'll just rip off of the foam. Is CA glue strong enough? Thanks.

Well, you're right. If the magnets are strong enough, they will more then likely rip away from the foam.
As I've recommended before, UHU Creativ is a pretty good glue for foam. But, you could always put a ferrite tab instead of a second magnet, That way, you would not have to be concerned about polarity and it would reduce the strength by 1/2 which may be enough to hold down the hatch. And you could always put two magnets on opposite sides of the hatch, holding it down from two locations.

My jet is made of EPS foam btw. The magnets are 8mm x 2mm circles. I was thinking... what if I cut short piece of wooden dowel and glue one of the magnets to the dowel and drill a hole for the dowel into the body of the jet and ca glue it?

I've CA'd magnets to wood many times and it works well so I don't think it is a question of the glue strength. it is the foam itself failing around the magnet as you mentioned. I'd do as CGR mentioned, maybe use one magnet and a piece of metal or embed them so the magnets don't actually contact. Being a foamie, it doesn't need the holding power like it would on a glow airplane..

I use a small steel washer instead of a second magnet.
