While everyone has listed some truly great planes, I'll have to throw my vote in for the ugly little Great Planes Dazzler. An inexpensive very easy to haul...all around great flying plane! They offer a quick easy build kit, or a very reasonably priced ARF. The plane / wing is a single sturdy construct that fits in the trunk of most cars.

It's one of those planes that you ALWAYS bring with you to the field whether or not you intend to fly it Easy to land. with very good low-speed handling characteristics. And it flies strong on an inexpensive OS LA .40........throw in a strong .46 and the little plane will do just about anything!

For a larger .60-.90 size plane I'd have to go with the U-Can-Do.......it really is an outstanding platform.

Weather permitting I will get to maiden my GP Escapade / Tower .46 tomorrow! I'll post what I think about that one soon!

I would add to the list the GP Escapade and H9 Pulse XT. They are great planes and the Excapade costs only $99!

Bruce
The Pulse was excellent when I had it. I really like my Hanger 9 Showtime 50. Very Aerobatic, and floats on landing with the right CG. Ive never flown any of the stik planes.
WHAT? Well that ain't right! Watsa matta with youins You should try one!

The stick is a classic for good reasons and IMHO is one of the easiest scratch builds possible.
Easy build and fix where part of the reason it came into exhistence in the first place.

I'm partial to the GP ultimate bipe no bad tendancies at all, stalls wings level, takes off with zero rudder and lands the same way, pretty much point and shoot and goes where you point it and will be ready when you are to take it to the next level.
The GP Ultimate will make even a bad pilot look good

U-Can-Do 3D 46. Flies easy. Floats like a kite if you want. Forgiving. Slow landings. And can do 3D later when you're ready on high rates. Very fun plane.

My favorite over the years, and usually recommend it to my students when they are up grading is the Kaos! You just can't beat it. It will always make you look good on landings. Can be fast or slow, it will help you learn pattern flying, yet is great for a fun fly at the field. You can either get the Tower ARF now, or find an older kit. If you want to build one, my buddy has a laser cutter and can cut you a short kit any size that you want to fly. The next two choices would be the stik or the 4*.

I had one of these and I loved the way it flew. The negative on this plane is that the wings are perminantly attached and the fuse is week where it gets thin neer the top half of the leeding edge of the wing.

1. Profile 3D plane trimmed for sport flying (like Combatpig said Morris Su du Khoi)
Mine out flies everything I have/had.

2. Second pick, Stick (any kind)

3. 4 Star

Sig Something Extra. These other guys are just crazy

Everyones got their favorites
That's a tough call. So many fun planes to fly for just an average day flier. The SIG Somethin' Extra is an excellent choice as well as the Pulse XT. The Astro Hog was mentioned as well. Can NEVER go wrong with the 'Hog.

So what is a good all around plane? I'm not talking trainers here; I want a plane that is a good all around flyer. Stable, yet aerobatic, forgiving, yet nimble and agile. I want something that is just plain fun, nothing too extreme though. I'm not ready to go 3D yet. I was thinking maybe an Easysport, or a Stik. I like the German theme on the sticks. Whatta' ya'll think?

All of them![8D]

Pretty much everything mentioned!!! As 67 mentioned though, if they don't come apart and go together easy at the field then they can be a pain to haul. That sort of leaves out the Bipes and old style fun fly planes. Tough choice but you can't go wrong with any of the Sticks.

H9 40(PTS) Mustang is hard to beat! A Pulse is a great looking and flying plane. (lost mine after several flights) Then you can't go wrong with a Stick. Had two Carl Goldberg 40 sticks. I flew them as hard as I could. Over time lost both of those, trying something too fast and too low. Just simple and fun planes.

It's only my 2nd plane but my H9 UltraStick 40 is very hard to leave at home. I also have the Eflite Mini UltraStick for my teenage son (he can fly the wings off it) and I just got a float-equipped Eflite UltraStick 25e. When I get my Sig Somethin' Extra done, I'll have a generous selection of excellent all-round sport/aerobatic planes.

SIG FOUR STAR 60. Hands down the best airplane for what you want to do. Why?
1. Will do any aerobatic move in the book.
2. Extremely stable. Does not snap in turns and easier to land than a trainer.
3. Get the .60 size. This is the best of the bunch, not too small and not too big. Power it with a .90 sized engine for outstanding performance.
4. Super easy to repair or build if you decide to do the full build.
5. I still have mine even though I've moved on because the thing just flies too good.

I have flown the Sig 4 Star 40, Model Tech Magic 36, GP Escapade, and the GP U Can Do 46 among others. I think all of these fly great. The GP Escapade is the cheapest and easiest to assemble. The Escapade also would have reasonably prices spare parts (how do I know?) whereas some other brands' spares are either more expensive, unavailable, or both (for ARFs).

How well does it do knife edge loops?
Knife edge spins?
Pinwheels?
Lollypops?
Rolling circles / eights?
Vertical hourglasses?
Climbing flat spins?
Hover to a landing on a picnic table?

Most of the run-of-the-mill variations of the Stiks, Kwik-Flys, Kaos', etc.....you can find out in 10 minutes everything those planes are capable of doing.
Not so with a good 3D profile. You could spend the rest of your flying days discovering what these planes are able to do.
They might look flimsy, but their strength is their lightness. They do less damage to themselves through normal wear and tear.

I would agree with those that suggested the SIG Something Extra [it's a tough bird and can be rebuilt, mine is on it's second rebuild, one from first owner and one for me] I also have a 60 size U-Can-Do which is very easy to fly when control surfaces are tuned down, very slow if needed. Also the GP Escapade, My wife got one for me for Christmas, goes together very easily as the control surfaces are already installed at the factory, the instructions are very good. Hve not flown it yet but all I have heard it is very easy with slight dihedral in the wing.

Good luck with which ever you choose.

What do all of you think, a Hangar 9 twist 60 with a Aerovate 15cc Gas Engine on it? This seems like a good match. Just asking if you all think it would work well?
