Need Help with Eflite ESC
I've never had this problem before and I have been flying electrics for at least seven years.
Recently, I purchased an Eflite 40 Amp ESC. I use the same type of ESC on another airplane.
Condition:
Trasmitter ON or OFF does not matter
Connect battery to ESC
Regular sound heard from motor
Turn Transmitter ON if it was OFF
Receiver links with no problems
Turn the tramsitter OFF
Motor engages and prop turns at speed similar to 1/4 throttle input
None of my other ESC's behave this way.
Is there a programming solution? Just curious.
Of course, I could just make sure I never turn the transmitter off before disconnecting battery (a good practice to follow).

You didn't mention what radio system you're using. If it's a 2.4Ghz system, then you should make sure the fail safe on the throttle channel is set to close the throttle fully.

With Spectrum and possibly JR 2.4G receivers, they may have two different "fall back" settings. One is with the tx off when the receiver is powered up, and the other when the receiver momentarily loses signal.
Both should be set using the binding process. Spectrum details the setup sequence in various places. Essentially, a tx and rx are "bound" twice.

True, Spektrum does have those power on F/S settings, but not on the throttle channel, that channel should output a null signal if the receiver is powered up with the transmitter turned off.
It sure sounds as though the throttle stick was at about 1/4 throttle at the time the receiver was bound.
