RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

4-Max, Purple Power "EESC" types of ESC - http://www.4-max.co.uk/esc.htm
-Are all made by EASYCO - http://myeasyco.com/
    They make: 25, 33A ESC's - for 2-4S LiPo, with linear BEC
    and: 45, 60, 70, 80A ESC's - for 2-6S LiPo with switching BEC
    http://myeasyco.com/esc_list.htm
-And these ESC'suse a distinctive EASYCO programming card - http://myeasyco.com/program-card.htm

There seem to be no other dealers for EASYCO, other than 4-max "Purple Power"

EMAX range of ESC's (same as: 4-max Purple Power "MESC" types): - http://www.yinyanmodel.com/En/ProductList.asp?SortID=22
Not sure all these ESC's are made by HobbyWing. The Emax program card is a little different - http://www.yinyanmodel.com/En/ProductView.asp?ID=88 -Has 3 buttons at bottom, has a different arrangement of buttons compared to HobbyWing card. The EMax and HobbyWing program cards are similar but not identical. According to 4-Max-Purple Power -sometimes a Hobbywing program card will work with an EMax ESC, sometimes not. So some of the Emax ESC's are clearly made by Hobbywing, others may be updated models made to another spec, or perhaps by a different manufacturer.
Note this: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=819755 -Title: Emax 10 amp esc Feb 2008
" ... If the PCB is green I think you have one of the new batch which are no longer made by Hobbywing. Emax switched manufacturers without bothering to tell anybody! I recently bought one and it wouldn't talk to an Emax programming card. If you do get a card, make sure it's the latest version Emax one. It looks exactly the same as the old Hobbywing one but they are not compatible. ..."
" ... The vendor sent me the instructions and except for the throttle range you do need a programming card to change anything ..."

RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

A few that Flyzone sells. The models are made by ST models , but I don't know who makes the esc. They all look similar with a square hole in the shrinkwrap exposing a blue heat sink. One I know has a LVC of 8.77 volts with reduced power to motor and then at 8.72 it cuts power off to motor. Another I know has a fixed LVC below 10 volts and may be actually 8.77 volt. They seem to have very long servo plug AND a blue round (resistor)? at the battery end.

Super Cub 18 amp esc http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCLBE&P=7
    FW-190 was originally listed as a 40 amp http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCKZC&P=7
    Cessna Corvalis 350 a 30 amp esc http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCLAR&P=7
Sensei looks identical and is a 30 amp esc http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCKZB&P=7
    Acro-Wot (my next plane) 40 amp http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCMZW&P=7 I'll see if it's identical
plane may be made or sold by RipMax also.

I use a lot of these esc and they all are armed as soon as they are plugged in. They are simple and work well. I've only had one go bad during a prop strike.

I appreciate the help and research you've done.
    and airplanes were in

Reasonably comprehensive list of ESC's is given on:

    Also useful for brushless motors:

    O.S and FUTABA ESC's:
    Worth noting these comments:
    http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/speed-...4-os-escs.html
cupracing: "Just noticed OS have released some escs, price and spec look good. Any one going to try one?"
    O.S OCA-1100HV 100Amp 50V ESC P-OS52012100

Paulo uk: "Been sold under other names a long time, so same ESC, new label as Megapower, Hawk Fusion, SJ Propo, Robbe Roxxy (and now OS and Futaba)"

Rob O: "of interest do you think that the OS brushless motors are rebadged as well just i was going to get one shortly for one of my planks but dont want to pay OS prices for something i can maybe get cheaper "

Seems to suggest that: OS and Futaba products, like ESC's:
are the same as:SJ Propo, Hawk Fusion, Robbe Roxxy, Megapower,
-and are all manufactured by the SJ Propo company

    PICS OF 100A ESC's:
1st pic shows O.S. OCA-1100HV 100A 50V (HV) ESC (does not have fan)
2ndshows LogicRC Hawk (Fusion) BL100A OPTO ESC / LiPo 4~12 with fan
3rd shows SJ PROPO 100A HAWK PROGAMMABLE BRUSHLESS OPTO ESC(4-12CELL LIPO), with fan
4th shows Tahmazo Pro.C Max HV 120A ESC, with fan
5th shows Robbe ROXXY BLControl 9100-12 Opto, 100A ESC, with fan
6th shows Mega Power Future 120A HV OPTO ESC 12S with fan
7th shows Futaba MC9100A 100A ESC, Li-Po 4-12 Cell (does not have fan)

These ESC unitsare all obviously identical(only difference is O.S. and Futaba do not have a fan / heat sink) .These unitsmust all be manufactured in same factory.
Clear that O.S.and Futaba are manufactured in same factory that also makes: LogicRC Hawk, SJPropo Hawk, Tahmazo, Megapower, Robbe -and probably other brands in addition.
It is also clear from a previous post, that these ESC'sall use the same programming box -showing they are indeed identical.

Tahmazo in Malaysia, and other Far East ?

RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

    4 main points:
    1. We tend to think that so-called "top quality" brands such as O.S. and Futaba, might perhaps manufacture their own devices in their own facilities. -That O.S. and Futaba devices might perhaps be unique, that they might be somehow different and "higher quality" than other brands.
-And this is why we are generally prepared to pay more for an O.S. and Futaba item than we are for other brands.

    2. However, this information proves conclusively that this is NOT the case -O.S. and Futaba simply re-brand many items made in OEM factories like SJ-PROPO, just as many other distributors / retailers do.

    3. O.S. and Futaba do not manufacture these particular ESC's -it is the SJ-PROPO factory (in China or perhaps in S. Korea) that manufactures these 100A ESC's.
-They are then re-branded as O.S., Futaba, Fusion Hawk, LogicRC Fusion, Robbe, MegaPower, Tahmazo, and probably other names that we have not yet discovered. This re-branding -despite the fact they are all identical ESC's with identical features -has interesting price consequences.

    4. It must also follow that ALL the ESC's in these different brand ranges will be identical, and will have same specs and features. They can all be programmed with the same distinctive box, so that they must be inter-changeable, and have the same software.
-Therefore, for instance,in addition to the 100A ESC'salready mentioned, the O.S. 50A ESC will be identical to the LogicRC-Fusion 50A ESC, the Robbe Roxxy 50A ESC, the SJ Propo Hawk 50A ESC, the MegaPower 50A ESC and to the Futaba 50A ESC; -the only difference between these ESC's will be the label stuck on the outside, and the retail price asked.

    PRICES OF IDENTICAL 100A / 120A ESC's
So: What about the retail prices of these identical 100A /120A OPTO HV ESC's-just with different brand names ...?
We know they are identical with each other, are all made on the same factory production line, and have identical specs and features.
Here are the prices for these identical ESC units: (has to be 120A rating forMegaPower /Tahmazo -they haveno 100A model),
-all currencies converted to US $: In order of ascending price:

    SJ PROPO 100A HAWK $127.84 AUD $125.00
Mega Power Future 120A HV $149.90
    Tahmazo Pro.C Max 120A HV$157.42 S$196.20
    Futaba MC9100A 100A$190.00
    LogicRC Hawk BL 100A$179.25 £119.99
    O.S. OCA-1100HV 100A (in UK)$201.66 £134.99
    Robbe ROXXY BLControl 9100-12 100A$219.09 174,00Euros
Robbe ROXXY BLControl 9100-12 100A$269.14£179.99 -Midland Helicopters (UK)
Robbe ROXXY BLControl 9100-12 100A $299.03£199 -Conrad UK price ...!
-Also: to compare with other 120A models:
    Robbe ROXXY BLControl 9120-12 120 A$327.53£219-Conrad UK ...!

The price varies from $127 up to $299-for the same identical 100A devices. This is a2.4 fold difference.
-And if we compare the MegaPower 120A and the Robbe 120A ESC's, theRobbe one costs 2.2 times as much.

NOW: I wonder -whyis there such a large price difference, for exactly the same ESC...?

    P.S: see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=10891444
Henning: " ... In Japan Futaba lists the ESC MC9100A at $258 and the programing box at $52 ..."

RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

    POINTS TO MAKE:
    1. These hugely differing prices, for identical 100A HV ESC's, with identical features, made in the same factory, is striking.

    2. The SJ PROPO (original factory brand) 100A HV unit is $127 ( -from Duanesplanes).
-We can pay up to 240% more than this ($299), for the identical ESC, if we buy the same re-branded and identical Robbe 100A HV ESC from ConradUK.

    3. Clearly, the SJ PROPO-branded 100A HV unit is cheapest; We can pay another $80 for the identical O.S. 100A HV ESC (-and it does not even have a fan ...-it is otherwise identical to the SJ PROPO 100A HV ESC); -And we can pay a still further$70 if we buy the identical Robbe 100A HV ESC, from Midland Helicopters in the UK..

    4. What does this tell us? If we buy an original factory brand unit, labelled as SJ PROPO, or a "budget" brand such as MegaPower, -then we get the 100A HV ESC for the cheapest price.
But: As soon as we buy an O.S.-branded ESC, or a Robbe-branded ESC -even though they are identical units, made in the same SJ factory, with identical features -the only difference is that they havebeen re-branded as "O.S." or "Robbe" with a stick-on label -then we have to pay 80% -or up to 240% -more, for the very same identical ESC, made side-by-side in the same factory.

    5. And why do O.S. and Robbe cost 80%-or up to 240%-morethan the original branded identical ESC ...?
-The only possible reason that we are paying this extra amount for O.S.-branded and Robbe-branded units -sincethey are identical 100A HV ESC's in all respects -is just so we can have the O.S. or Robbe label stuck on the outside of the ESC..?

-There appears to beno other logical reason ... ?

And it is the same story for the 50A ESC's from these different brands.
We know that:O.S. and Futaba ESC'sare made in the SJ-PROPO factory-as are theidentical MegaPower Future, SJ PROPO (own brand)Hawk, LogicRC Fusion Hawk, Robbe Roxxy, Tahmazo ....
-And they all have all have identical programming and firmware, and all use the same program box: (most even have the same colour motor wires, black-green-red ...! and identical capacitors ...) -So these 50A ESC's will all be identical

PRICES OF THESE IDENTICAL 50A ESC's:
Mega Power Future 50A ESC $59
    SJ PROPO 50A ESC (2-6 LIPO) $70.52 AUD$68.50
    LogicRC Hawk BL 50A ESC LiPo 2-6 $74.69 £49.99
    O.S. OCA-150 50A ESC (in UK) $98.44 £61.60
    Futaba MC951H 50A ESC $108.4785 Euros
    Robbe ROXXY 950-6 50A ESC$126.23 £78.99 (Conrad UK ...! )

    Tahmazo Pro.C Max 6018 60A ESC$82.09S$102.51
(This states is a 60A ESC -but seems same as other 50A ESC's)

Once again, the price varies from $59 to $126 -for 50A ESC's which are completely identical ...
    -make your own conclusions ....

RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

IS THEO.S., FUTABAOR ROBBE ESCANY"BETTER"THAN THE SJ-PROPO, MEGAPOWER, OR FUSION ESC ?

Now,some people will, of course, argue that the price ofO.S.or Futaba or Robbe ESC's is higher, because they are clearly "better quality". -They are the BMW or Mercedes compared to the Ford ...
Some people will doubtless suggest thatO.S. and Futaba have added extra features to their ESC,their software is better,or they have different or improved programming etc etc-And that is why Robbeor O.S. or Futabacharge much more for the ESC with their brand sticker on,because it is a higher grade or is somehow upgraded from themuch cheaper versionlabelled asSJ PROPO (own brand),MegaPower Future,or LogicRC -Fusionetc...
Indeed, this point of view was expressed bymember RCU aeajrearlier in this thread, when he stated:
" ...It is quite possible to make several brands or products in the same factory, each to a different design and quality level. Even if 10 different ESC come out of the same factory, that does not mean they are the same, or even similar ..."
" ... The value in the apple products is not in the hardware, though there is a certain amount of enhanced value there, it is in the software and, to a large extent that is what you are paying for ..."

To check whether there might be any basis to this viewpoint, I looked at the manuals of all these 100A ESC's.
    And the short answer is:
THEY ALL HAVE IDENTICAL PROGRAMMING AND PROGRAM PARAMETERS
    THEY ALL HAVEIDENTICAL FEATURES
THEY ALL HAVE A BASICALLY IDENTICAL MANUAL, WITH IDENTICALSTEPS EXPLAINED...

Therefore: There is NO basis whatsoever to the argument that you pay twice as much for an O.S.,Futabaor RobbeESCbecause it is somehow better, or has more or added features.
-The O.S.,Futaba and Robbe 100A ESCis IDENTICAL in every way to the SJ PROPO Hawk, MegaPower Future, and LogicRC -Fusion 100A ESC.

The $127 SJ PROPO 100A HAWKis identical in every way to the O.S. OCA-1100HV 100Aand to the$300 Robbe ROXXY BLControl 9100-12 100A ... ( -and it even has a fan / heatsink, which the O.S. and Futaba do not ...)

TheONLY difference between these ESC's is the little brand sticker on the outside of the plastic case ...

PROGRAMMING ROUTINE FOR ALL THESE 100A / 120A ESC's is as follows:

First, make BASIC MENU selections, using Tx stick
    1. Battery type LiPo / NiCd
    2. Motor rotation direction Normal / Reverse
    3. Brake on / off (aircraft); Governor on / off (Heli); Reverse on / off (car) -refers to positions 8 & 9 in later advanced menu
    4. Aircraft / Heli
    5. Boat / Car

Second, makeADVANCED MENU selections, using program box -choices shown for AIRCRAFT
    1. Battery Type (LiPo or NiCd / NiMh)
    2. Low Voltage Cutoff Setting
    3. Low Voltage Cut-off Type (power reduction or immediate shutdown)
    4. Motor Rotation (clockwise \ counterclockwise)
    5. Timing Settings (to enhance ESC efficiency and smoothness)
    6. Soft Start -Acceleration (for delicate gearbox and helicopter applications)
    7. Start Power
    8. Air brake response type -Fast / Slow, or in %
    9. Air brake on / off
    10. Motor pole number
    11. Gear ratio
    12. Max RPM
    13. Average RPM
    14. Download stored data
    15. Restore memory
    16. Backup memory

-Interesting that there is noprogram parameter for selecting Switching Frequency; and no way of Restoring Factory Default (as there is for most other ESC's)..
(Also: The O.S. / Futabamanual makes no mentionof Heli Governor mode, as do all the other ESC manuals ... -but Governor mode will be used in positions 8 and 9, if the Heli mode is selected initially in the basic menu ... )

Otherwise, the programmingfor these ESC's looks quite advanced and sophisticated-compared to other ESC'slike ZTW, or Airboss / Hyperion etc.
However, in my opinion, it is not "Rolls Royce" finely adjustable programming, like one getson a Jeti Spin Pro ESC.

RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

Electrifly Silver Series Brushless ESC's, 60A and 80A:
In post #21 of this thread: - http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11221681
-I suggested that these 60A and 80A ESC's might be made by the Sunrisemodel factory.
However, the smaller Electrifly ESC'a are made by INGS Bee's Electronics - http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11221655
-Since the smaller and larger Electrifly ESC's share some similar features, I wondered if the larger ESC's might be made at the same factory.
-This has now been proved to be correct (see below). The Electrifly 60A and 80A ESC'sARE made by INGS Bee's Electronics.

    EMAIL: From ings info@ings-cn.com
" ... Hello: Thanks for your email, you are very clear about ELECTRFLY SS series ESCs. :-)
You can find the specifications by following link.
    http://www.electrifly.com/escs/silverseries.html
-Actually when we designed the 60A, it can be used up to 80A, 80A can be used up to 100A, HV OPTO.
Then we didn't make 100HV. We attached some scaned file for the program card and 60A instructions,
    Best regards Felicia ..."

"... Hello Bee's Electronics: I assume that you manufacture the ELECTRIFLY SS-60 and SS-80 ESC's
-as well as the smaller ELECTRIFLY / SUPER TIGRE ones. Please send me details about 60A, 80A and 100A ESC's ..."

Pics show the Electrifly program card for 60A and 80A ESC's; Previously, we could only see itfrom the back, and it looked like a SunriseModel jumper program card; Now that we can see the front of the card, it is clearlyNOT a SunriseModel card. It is made by INGS Bee's Electronics for the Electrifly 60A and 80A ESC's.

*** HACKER, HYPERION TITAN, E-F AIRBOSS, COMMON-SENSE-RC ESC's etc etc -NOT MADE BY ZTW ***
*** -They are actually made by: SUNRAY TECHNOLOGY ***

    1. In post #3 of this thread - http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11216610 -written by me 12 months ago, I gave the opinion that the large OEM ESC company called ZTW - http://en.ztwoem.com/index.html -made the ESC's for brands like: Hacker; Hyperion Titan; E-F Airboss; Common-Sense-RC; Sonic Electric; Gens Ace; Apache, OK Hobby Infinite; Jeti ESC's etc.

    2. That is what many of us thought at the time. And the idea that the manufacturer might be ZTW, had been given by various people in forum threads:
    See: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...78&postcount=3
    http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1333719
    http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/show...8&postcount=12

    3. WE WERE ALL WRONG. WE HAVE (VERY RECENTLY) DISCOVERED THAT THESE ESC's ARE NOT MADE BY ZTW.
THEY ARE ACTUALLY MADE BY ANOTHER VERY LARGE OEM MANUFACTURER, SUNRAY TECHNOLOGY.

RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

Hacker; Hyperion Titan; E-F Airboss; Common-Sense-RC; Sonic Electric; Gens Ace; Apache, OK Hobby Infinite ESC's
Made by SUNRAY TECHNOLOGY, -and not ZTW ...

    4. This is the same Sunray Technology OEM company that also makes the outrunner brushless motors for: Hacker, E-F Torque, Z-Hyperion; and also for Pelikan Foxy, LiPolice, OK Hobby Infinite, Shulman Aviation FURY, Gens Ace, Common-Sense-RC, Viper VA, Apache, Pilotage Nova-Line, Lipotech, Sonic Electric, BMI Models "Spitz" motors, Precision Aerobatics Thrust motors, JP E-Pro motors. They also make the range of Turnigy SK3 motors.
    see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11426913/tm.htm

    5. It turns out that Sunray Technology also make the ESC's for almost all of the same brands that they make motors for. And they have done this for several years.
-It was never ZTW that made these brands of ESC's, it was Sunray Tech all along.

    6. The conclusion that it might have been ZTW that made these brands of ESC's, was based on the fact that Hacker, Common-Sense-RC, Apache ESC's etc had a very similar "appearance" to many of the ZTW-manufactured ESC's.
-It was also based on the fact that the particular ESC's in this group which actually used a jumper program card (-like Common-Sense-RC, Apache, LiPolice, OK Hobby Infinite, Gens Ace) used a program card which "appeared" to be similar to the standard ZTW program card. It "appeared" to have just a few "minor" differences from the standard ZTW program card.
    see: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=13

    7. We realise now, that these are not just "minor differences" in the ESC program card. The ZTW and the "Sunray" program cards are really very different.
And now we know why.-The ESC jumper program cards for Common-Sense-RC, Apache, LiPolice etc-are made by Sunray Tech in order to program their own OEM brands of ESC's -and they are not made by ZTW at all ... -They never were made by ZTW ...

    8. In addition: If you look at the manuals for the ESC's in the list above, the E-F Airboss ESC has EXACTLY the same programming -in terms of parameter order -as the ESC's from: Common-Sense-RC; Sonic Electric; Gens Ace; OK Hobby Infinite; BMI Spitz standard ESC's; BMI Spitz data log ESC's; Shulman Aviation FURY ESC's -to name just a few ...
    -ALSO: Hacker X-Pro has identical progamming to Hyperion Titan, Apache and Pilotage Nova-Line ESC's. -And these all have very similar programming to E-F Airboss ESC, they just have a very slightly different order of programming parameters, and do not have the "Restore Factory Default" program setting in position 8;
LiPolice ESC's have identical programming to Hacker X-Pro / Hyperion Titan / Apache, except that the LiPolice ESC's include"Restore Factory Default" in position 8.

    9. This programming parameter order is COMPLETELY different for a ZTW ESC -and for all the other ESC's which are made by ZTW.
-In ALL ZTW-produced ESC's, program parameter 4 is ALWAYS: Restore Factory Default

    10. It is very clear now that Hacker X-Pro ESC's, and Hyperion Titan, Apache, E-F Airboss, Common-Sense-RC, Sonic Electric ESC's etc etc -cannot be made by ZTW.

    11. So if it is not ZTW, then which (chinese) factory DOES make all these different brands of ESC's ?

    12. It is Sunray Technology, of course. All along it has been Sunray Technology making these ESC's, over the last 7 or 8 years -and it never was ZTW ...

    13. So: As well as making brushless motors for all of its "typical brands" that Sunray Technology supplies as an OEM manufacturer, Sunray Tech also makes ESC's for almost all of these same brands:
    Hacker; Hyperion Titan; E-F Airboss; Apache; Pilotage Nova-Line; LiPolice; and also: Common-Sense-RC; Sonic Electric; Gens Ace; OK Hobby Infinite; BMI Spitz standard ESC's; BMI Spitz data log ESC's; Shulman Aviation FURY ESC's; JP E-PRO ESC's; and previously it made ELE-RC "Advance" ESC's (now discontinued) and Watts-Up Hobbies AP 90A ESC (now discontinued);
In addition, Sunray Technology may well make Precision Aerobatics Quantum ESC's, which in many cases look identical to Gens Ace and LiPolice ESC's.

    14. It is also highly probable that Sunray Technology make all of the JETI ESC's, since there is a very close relationship betwen Hacker and Jeti.

..... The evidence for Turnigy dlux and Jeti ESC's -will be shown in later posts in this thread.

CONFIRMATORY EMAILS FROM SONIC ELECTRIC AND AIRCRAFT WORLD,
-proving Sunray Technology as the manufacturer of ESC's ....

    EMAIL FROM: SonicElectric - sonicrcmodel@yahoo.com
" ... Yes, our ESC is made by SunRay Technology. -I do not think the ZTW program card can work with it properly
    Thanks, Danny ..."

ORIGINAL EMAIL: Sonic Electric ESC's are made at the Sunray Technology factory in China
-As are: Hacker, E-F Airboss, Hyperion Titan, Apache, Common-Sense-RC; Lipolice; Gens Ace; OK Hobby Infinite; BMI Spitz ESC's; Shulman FURY ESC's -and others ...
( -All the typical "Sunray" brands ....)
So: probably an Apache, Common-Sense-RC, Lipolice, or Gens Ace program card will work, for the Sonic Electric ESC .... ?

EMAIL FROM: Aircraft World - shop@aircraft-world.com
Re: Hyperion ESC and other brands:

THE "SUNRAY" ESC PROGRAM CARD -IS ACTUALLY VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE ZTW ESC CARD
First two pics show ESC jumper program cards for an Apache ESC,and for a Common-Sense-RC ESC. 3rd pic shows the program card used for ALL ZTW (A-type) ESC's -no matter whetheritis branded "ZTW" or whetherit has another brand name onit( -there are a large number ofbrands for whomZTW makes ESC's...).

Compared to the ZTW card, the "Sunray" ESCprogram cards (i.e. Apache and Common-Sense-RC program cards) have:
    -"Rx" and "EXT POWER FOR OPTO" at top of card;
    -"Ni-XX" or "NiCd" and and a number list of Li cells at top left;
    -Governor mode at lower rightarea (-instead of "Cut Off Voltage" on the standard ZTW card);
-"BRAKE ON / OFF" at bottom right of card (-not at bottom left, like ZTW card).
-6 pins at the top (-not 5 pins, like standard ZTW card).
-A different "look" -they doNOT have two central columns down the middle of the card, with writing placed sideways along the long axis of the card, as ALLZTW program cards do. Sunray ESCprogram cards have all the writing placed horizontally across the card, in small boxes demarcated by lines or by being shadedwith a background colour.

These features are diagnostic of a "Sunray" ESC program card -and show that a "Sunray"-type jumper card is not made by ZTW.

Otherwise are identical.
-AND:are about 20% of the cost of the same amp rating Hacker X-Pro ESC ...!

Turnigy dlux data log ESC's have exactly the same programming as Common-Sense-RC and Airboss and other ESC's; They also use the same programming box as used for Gens AceESC's( -and BMI Data Log ESC's use the same program box as used for JETIESC's..)

-Despite Turnigy dlux data log ESC's being made in the same factory as Hacker X-Pro ESC's, and despitethem having data loggingfeatures in addition to normal ESCfunctions-they are STILLonly ~25% of the cost of the same amp rating Hacker X-Pro ESC ...!

-There is a lot of smoke and mirrors going on here ....

Also: some online retailers sell these ESC's with their original label "ZTW"

    For clarification:
HOBBY LOBBY e-RC and RCM-Pelikan FOXY ESC's have identical programming to ZTW B-series ESC's (they have adjustable S-BECvoltage).
All the others are identical to ZTW A-series ESC's.
ZTW AL-Serieshave identical programming to ZTW A-series ESC
ZTW LAND POWER ESC have identical programming to ZTW B-series (with adjustable S-BEC voltage in programming position 6)
HobbyKing (10A to 120A rating)"ESC 4A UBEC"models -do not haveGovernor Mode in position 7, so are plane-only ESC's -otherwise exactly same as ZTW A-series

RE: Which (chinese) facctories make various brands of ESC ..?

QUESTION: WHICH FACTORY MAKES THE TURNIGY DLUX RANGE OF ESC's ?
ANSWER: It is Sunray Technology (-of course ... )

This whole thread started 12 months ago, with the simple question: WHO MAKES THE TURNIGY DLUX ESC's ...?
    See post #1: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11215832
At the time (March 2012) I reasoned that it might be the ZTW factory. This was partly because the Turnigy dlux ESC's use a program box which is exactly the same as the Gens Ace program box (see pics). And I have never seen this particular program box used for any other ESC's. And as you will note -we thought at the time, that Gens Ace ESC's were made by ZTW.-So it all seemed reasonable at the time, and fitted together.

I suppose you can guess what is coming next. Of course, we now know that Gens Ace ESC's are made by Sunray Tech -and not by ZTW.
I am 99.9% sure now, that the whole range of Turnigy dlux ESC's is made by Sunray Technology.
This is not simply because Turnigy dlux ESC's use exactly the same program box as Gens Ace ESC's.
The functions (not cosmetic appearance)of Turnigy dlux ESC's (at least the S-BEC ones that also do data logging) are almost identical to the BMI Spitz Data Log ESC's -and we know these BMI ESC's are made by Sunray Tech. For instance, BMI Spitz Data Log ESC'suse the Sunray jumper program card (6 pins at the top etc ...) see: http://www.bmi-models.com/#en/SPITZ_Controllor/4/1423
In addition, features of the programming of Turnigy dlux ESC's are almost identical with E-F Airboss / Common-Sense-RC / Sonic Electric / Gens Ace / OK Hobby Infinite ESC's (i.e "typical Sunray brands" of ESC) .
Also, some features of Turnigy dlux ESC'sare similar with Jeti SPIN ESC's, and Jeti SPIN Pro ESC's.

-This will all be demonstrated in future posts in this thread.

Pics show: 1, Turnigy dlux ESCprogram box; 2, Gens Ace ESC program box
-the buttons on these program boxes do different things, but important pointis that the boxes themselves are identical ...
