Quick throttle squeal!!
I am long time gas flyer...New to electric stuff! I understand motor rating in Kv and and watts. The problem I am having is with 2 different set-ups. One with a 35mm 1000kv and one with a 42mm 530 kv. They both have quality 50 amp ESC's and run lipos at 4 or 5 cells. If I don't set the timing to the most advanced the motors will squeal and slow way down when throttled hard. With the timing advanced, they are way better, but will still do it if throttled aggressively at low rpms. Is this a normal electric thing. I am not running big props or over loading. Great top-end rpm and no heat from motors. Is there any thing I can do to eliminate this. I have set the load on the ESC to heavy, helped but not eliminated.

Are you sure? Humor us and try smaller props.. pretty sure your squealing will disappear.

RE: Quick throttle squeal!!
Yea, Doc, but so will any efficiency gained from running a bigger motor. I could put on a 10-6 and it would be fine. Props produce thrust, not motors. I changed the throttle curve and got a lighter prop as the amps required to spool-up the heavy APC electric was the biggest problem. I have alot of experience with prop loading as is is a expensive mistake if you buy the wrong 28"er! You asked for some humor...Here ya go! http://youtu.be/UO9A4p1Qsvk
