Knighthawk,

Regardless of the manner in which you spoke to us, you should have been treated curteously and proffesionally - it sounds like you weren't, and my job here at Castle is to make sure that NEVER happens here.

If you would please - email me a copy of that entire email exchange. The quote you used there is not an acceptable verbage to use with our customers.

So where do you stand exactly right now - have you sent them/bought a link somewhere else? What can I do for you to make you a happy camper?

RCDOC - if the new one is no better/different, please call me at the # below, and we'll get you sorted out directly.

Thanks,
Shawn Palmer

Trying to work things out with shawn at castle creations and this whole thing could be a stupid prop problem. I was told some guys are throwing a 10 11 and 12 size props but the largest I can throw is a 10/5 and a 9/6 just like what the engine spec. says. this is not getting me endless vert. with decathalon like I was told it would. later

I'm running 3 lipoly (thunder power with the yellow band) a phonix 25 9/6 prop 2212/34 AXI. The AXI sight www.modelmotors.cz says I should be able to throw a 11/4.7 prop and I can't unless I need to change the timing? All I want is a speed controller /brushless motor / prop that will give the decathalon wattage endless vertical , without the troubles. Right now I am testing everything in the E-starter (old faithful)

I'm throwing a 12-6 with the timing set to standard and fast start I have no problems once I got the new software. Sorry Shawn but I no longer have the e-mails from castle, Our LHS was able to get a link and let are club borrow it for a weekend. So that took care of my problem. RCDOC are you sure your new controller has the upgraded software?? We had 6 people in are club all having the same problem and the new software had us all flying within 10min. It worked so good we went to the local college to fly at midnight.

I had some shaking issue with an Max 2015-4100 swinging an apc 12x6sf. I bought the USB programmer and now everyting is ok!! Dam it's sweet to program it in Windows will never go back to stick programming...I've just tested the 'beta' software and it work great. You can reverse the rotation of the engine in it.

I think any serious electric flyer witn CC speed control should have the USB programer.

Ok Fried my thunder power this weekend and so I bought 2 new Kokam 15oomah 3 cells. And I have the same problem. wont go past 1/3 throttle unless I have a small prop on. Sooo, 3 batteries and 2 speed controllers later I think it might be the motor (AXI 2212/34) I did finally get the software working and it is great. I'm phoning shawn tomorrow at CC and try any suggestions he has and then I'm phoning AXI.

Bought a watttage dc meter and the engine is being cut off at about 2-2.5 amps so this is why I think it is the motor. By the way the 3 things I Highly recommend in this hobby are wattage meter/ p-link/ and a scale. I just weighted my e-starter in at 20 -21 .oz much higher than I thought. I'm using a piece of metal to mount the AXI and that weighs in at 2.5 oz alone.

OK I've talked to two experts. (shawn at castle creations and Ian from te hobby store) Ian told me they have never had a problem with a AXI motor and he would bet it is the Controller or pack. and after a little programing with the link, Shawn is sending me the second replacement. I told him it sound weird to have two controllers messed and he said the odds of that are slim to none but he's sending me another one anyhow. Hats off to Castle for Replacement , but I'm at the point where I just want to fly.

Should have the replacement in a couple days and i'll let you know. Going to the store that Ians at on the weekend and he said we can try other controllers and engines to see where the problem lies. sooo after next weekend ( nov.21/04)I should have some real awnsers.

Hello all Sorry my PC has been down. I am on the verge of figureing this out with help from many people. 3 controllers later . Went to the store and we tried a phonix 10 from one of the clerks personal esc and it worked my engine but a new phonix 10 controller wouldn't. My 25 phonix worked his motor though but not mine. We are trying a new AXI hope fully by the weekend.

Finally... Got the problem fixed. It was the AXI believe it or not. Now that is what a plane is supose to fly like. Major unlimited vert on the E-starer. straight up at 3/4 throttle. Love it. gonna wait til spring to try the decathalon. Too much snow and way to cold. Also bought a Himax 2812 0850 and threw it on the E-starter (my ginni pig) and it threw a 10/4.7 very nicely with 9.2 amps and 83 watts with the 3 li-poly kokam. Highly recomend the AXI or the Himax Both are awesome engines. As far as the speed controller goes .... Hats off to CASTLECREATIONS They not only sent me new controllers at no charge and spent countless hours on the phone with me problem solving... but it was not even there fault in the end. Once again I LOVE CASTLE CREATIONS thanks castle.

I run a Himax 2015/4100, with a CC Phoenix 25 ESC...
6:6.1 aluminum gearbox...

When I power up my edge, it would run fine (full throt)... but as soon as I wiggle rudder/elev/ailer, the engine shuts off. (with 9v cutoff)
I took it outside, and the engine woln't even get above 3/4 throttle before it shuts off.
(it's real cold out)
Swinging a GWS 12x6 prop.

my LHS changed the prop to a GWS 11x8 (after they saw what was going on), and it ran fine inside...
but when we got outside, about 2-3 minutes into the flight, when full throttle was needed... the engine shut off again.
Managed to get it down in one piece, but I don't like it =/

Called up the LHS this time, they said to take the cutoff to 7.4v.
so I did that, and it runs no problems now.

I don't think this is safe... so, any suggestions on what I should do?
Also, I'm using JST connectors... Planning on switching to Deans later today.
Will that help any?
Thanks...

specs ;

Himaxx 2015/4100
Aluminum 6.6:1 Gearbox
CC Phoenix 25 ESC
GWS 12x6 or 11x8 prop
ETEC 1200mah 3s1p High Discharge Li-Po

also, congrats on getting your problem solved, doc

Ya I'm runnin a 10/4.7 on the himax 2812 0850 and it shut down when i ran a 11/4.7 also. I was wondering also if I should have set my speed controller at 7.4 ? Just scared of messing up another lipo. (that gets costly) I was also wondering how the numbers work when comparing engines? My himax is a 2812 0850 and my Axi is a 2812 34. Why 2 numbers after the 2812 on the Axi and 4 numbers after the 2812 on the Himax?

the second number in the himaxx means kV/RPM

IE.. 2015-4100 = 4100 rpm/kV

Talked to Shaun at castle creations and he says no to the 7.4 cutoff. Cutoff for 3 lipoly should be 9. Said the old axi instructions say 7.4 but now the new setting is 9. the old lipoly put out less and the manufacturers never gave a cutoff, but now they recomend 9 for 3 lipoly.

Hi Guys,
Yesterday i flew my SS with my brand new phoenix 25 and Himaxx 2025-4100, and guess what? The same problem, the motor is shutting down when i put 3/4 throttle. This is my setup:
Himaxx 2025-4100
Aluminum 6.6:1 Gearbox
CC Phoenix 25 ESC
12x6 prop
Kan 1500mah 3s1p Li-Po.

I read this thread but still don't understand what's going on with this issue.
I consider not safe to change the cut off to 7.2 when using a 3 lipo.

I'm going to write castle creations about this issue.

I'm not sure buying the usb programer will fix this problem.
OK, your opinions are very welcome.
Thank you in advance, and sorry for my english, but i'm an argentinian living in Colorado, crazy for this hobby.

Heh, still subscribed.

I fixed my problem by switching from JST connectors to Deans.
solved the problem right away.
I'm back with 9v cutoff, and never had to motor cut out on me since.

Btw, the people at CC are the best ^_^
They should solve your problem in no time if you call before reading this message.

Hopefully you're using JST... and this will fix it..
if you're using Deans already... No idea o.o

Zeek:
sounds like to much prop for the batt. capacity. Try something around 10/8 prop. or 2100 ma batt.

Thank you guys, for your opinion.
I sent an email to castle creations, and they said, i should be running a 10x4.7 prop.
So i order today at All e RC a couple of props and a usb programer for the phoenix 25.
Hope this prop will fix the issue.
Had someone of you ever ordered on this website (All e RC)? Hope i can get my order before this weekend.
Thank you again

OMG, I missed that, I'm sorry.
I didn't see you're using a himaxx 2025...
Just skimmed over it real quick, and figured you had a 2015.

Bah, sorry. =[

I'm glad CC was able to help you though
They're awsome people

*EDIT*
Yeah, I Next day air'ed some crystals and a pinion from them.
It was 2 days before Thanksgiving...
Wanted to fly all thanksgiving holiday.
Cost so much for next day air...
Then it was rainy all during the holiday...
Lucky eh?

Anyway, yeah... they have great shipping, I can say that much ;p
Got it the next day
