Default Dumas Bearcat motor

I'm posting this one for a mate.

He's got a Dumas Bearcat with a smelly/noisy in it at the moment. I've convinced him to make the change and go lecky, after flying my JPerkins Jenny. Right, can anyone recommend a motor. A 400 seems the obvious but I was wondering if it's possible to go slightly lighter, maybe a GWS 300 or one of their geared units. I don't think he's ready to go brushless yet...... to tight with the money.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
