Default brushless motor/esc/lipo combo for GWS PT-17

i just flew this crate today. i was disappointed with the power for one reason..... there wasn't very much!!![] i tried to do a loop and it simply stalled and i froze and it bit the dust. luckily it only broke a prop i want to go brushless and lipo. which combo should i use? i prefer something that i can put on the stock gearbox cause im not too good with the modification stuff. i also dont want to go too expensive yet i dont want to cheap out

I have a Tiger Moth 400 I fly with a Himax 2816-1220 motor, CC PHX-25, APC 10x4.7 prop, and a Thunderpower 2100 2-cell.

Got it all from here: www.bmkdesigns.net

It cost about $185 though.

I have not had any luck with thw budget motors and speed controls. There fore I usually end up paying about $130 for the combos for a plane this size.

Yes!!

E-flite 400 geared 5.3/1 (C ratio in GWS terms) and APC 11x4.8 running off 3S 1500 to 2450 ma lipos will pull the Steerman verticle in a most un-stock way. It will draw about 150 watts at WOT so make sure you run it in a sturdy gearbox. I haven't found the GWS gearboxes good for more than about 100 watts (they continually spin the driven gear) I've been using one of the Cobri boxes for some months now and haven't been able to tear it up yet in spite of running it with over 200 watts at times. The only thing that's supposed to hurt it is a very hard crash. I believe it!

One more thing. E-Flight makes an ESC/BEC that sells for around $40.00. I've had very good luck with mine. It's in a Mini-Funtana with the 400 motor and it seems to be good for a bit more than its 20 amp rating. I know mine has to put up with 25 amps for a while with a fresh 3S 2450. No harm after lots of use over about 3 months. (maybe 150 flights)
