I have a T-Hawk trainer that comes with a 380 motor installed. I have a spare set of LiPo batteries and would like to replace the 380 with a somewhat more powerful brushless. I need to have in "inner" that will mount as per the 380 ( screws at the front--motor recessed into the polyethylene fuselage) . Can anyone point me to a suitable replacement?

I'm not really sure about a 380 sized motor, that's not something I am familiar with at all, especially the mounting. if someone doesn't answer you, you could try e-mailing your favorite online hobby shop, or going in to your LHS and asking the same thing. They might be more familiar with it.

If you could find specs on that motor such as weight, thrust, amp draw kv rating ect, and how much extra room you have inside, that would probably go a long ways in getting either someone to help you find one, or finding the motor yourself.

Are you using a gearbox?

Great Plane Ammo motors are good - something around a 20-30-2650 would probably work

Himax has 2 motors to replace a SPEED 370-400 - HA2015-2800 and HA2025-3200

It all depends on the gear box, if you are running one, and the actual weight of the plane.

But if you're currently running a gearbox with the brushed can motor, you can usually ditch it if you go with an brushless outrunner. They generate so much torque that there's no need for the extra weight and rotational friction that comes with a gearbox.

If you want to go cheap just get a Bell type motor like the BP-21 or 12. Most are capable of 100-125 watts which is more than you are working with now. Motor and ESC combos are $40 or so. Hobby Lobby has the XT400 on sale sometimes at give-away prices. Lot of reasonable outrunners out there. If you want geared there are also many out there at a little more money. Check out ARC motors and Feigoa 20mm motors and matching gear boxes.
