GWS PT-17 setup help needed
I may have put this in the wrong thread the first time, so I'm copying it here.
I've always bought plane kits (ParkZone) and this is my first try at a customized plan. I purchased a GWS PT-17 and need some help determining motor/esc/gear/prop/battery setup. From what I've seen here ([link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/GWS_PT-17_Stearman/m_2438094/tm.htm]RCU PT-17 discussion[/link]) and at the PT-17 review it seems that there is quite a discrepency, but these discussions appear to be about 2 years old. I'd like to maintain a balance between usability/power with cost (considering I just lost a fairly new plane - 2 flights - and am buying a radio, I need to keep my costs down).
I'm looking at a 2025-4266 setup (2025-4200 w/ 6.6:1 gearbox) and a thunderpower 2100 mAh battery - something like the full combo here ([link=http://www.rctoys.com/rc-products/K-2025-4200G-PH25.html]RC Toys[/link]). Another motor I've looked @ is the E-flite 420.
I've been flying a ParkZone Cub for about 2 years and crashed my ParkZone P51-D this weekend. I've never had experience buying these pieces separately and really could use your help. Thanks!

Cant help you with engine tips, but I must warn you that the PT-17 stearman is VERY tailheavy. I got one with stock motor and lipo battery, and it wont take off...

I think I'm going to go with a justgofly 400TH motor. This should give me plenty of power for this plane. You can also go for the 450DF, if you want a ton of power, but I think that would be too much for me...
