Default hacker A50 motors

I have a Hacker A50 size outrunner motor. I am new to electric. I am using the backmount option with the bolt on prop driveshaft. I had to remove the black metal disc one the end of the motor so the shaft mounting screws would reach the threads. This results in being able to see the wire wrapings of the motor coils. Maybe this would help it run cooler. The instructions are very poor on this motor. Let me know if this sounds normal to you. Thanks, Jim
