Default compare these motors

how do these motors compare? i am wanting to get a Great Planes® Seawind® Seaplane EP ARF. it suggests using the 28-30-950 out-runner brushless rimfire motor. i have a AXI 22-12-26 already and am wondering how it will compare and fly the plane. does anyone have any idea? any help is appreciated.

In bench tests those two motors generated very similar numbers - since you have the Axi already, go with it - it is a higher quality motor and can be pushed a bit more than the Rimfire without getting hot. Both are limited to ~14-15A on 3s (the Rimfire became hot fast at 16A, and an immersion heater at the suggested 20A surge current).

What size prop does the Seawind require?

I would also go with that AXI
Just be aware that you will have to do some modification to the motor mount on the Seawind as the gRimfire motors use a 3 bolt pattern[:'(] rather than the normal pair of 16mm and 19mm spaced holes. I had to make my own motor mount to use a 22--12-34 AXI on the GP S.E.5a.
I am also about ready to pop for the Seawind, but in my case it will be more of a Snowind, somehow I think it may be a blast flying of fresh powder[8D].
Good luck and please post your progress if you do get one soon.

I'm not sure if the Park 480 would draw enough current with only the required 8x6 APC SF, though perhaps it will - both the Rimfire and Axi are even lower Kv than the Park 480's 1020Kv. I'm guessing they'd draw ~12A with that prop. If you want more 120W of power you really need to get a slightly higher Kv motor.

Personally I'd forget the 8x6 APC SF and use an 8x6 GWS HD - almost the same thrust, at better pitch speed, for only 3/4 of the amp draw/watts-in!
