40 A ESC dies at 11 A
Hello.
I've purchased a (actually, four) 40 A proton ESC from Exceed to control
a Mega Motor ACn 16 EDF, which powers a Minifan Pro 480.
However, it does not seem to be able to handle anywhere near
40 A. With no cooling airflow (the ESC in stationary air) it fries
at 11 A (despite the fact that the ESC should be thermally
protected). The magic smoke leaves the device.
When the ESC is cooled by being placed in the (intense) airflow
of the EDF, it survives up to ~15 A. Then it seems like the
thermal protection kicks in because the ESC reduces the
power to the motor beyond that. Even if it survives, it gets
very hot and an ESC capacitor looks like it starts to boil.
Does anybody have any similar experience with the
ESC:s from Exceed? They have not commented on
my issue.
The motor and fan runs fine at low throttling.
