Help with motor choice
I bet some of you guys are tired of hearing "this is my first electric" but this is my first electric.
I scratch built an airframe for this project pictured below. 42 in wing span, 495 sq in and an airframe only weight of 14 oz. Airfoil is a flat plate 3/8".
I like to go fast and am considering this set up. Is the motor up to the task? My calculator says it may draw up to 80 amps with a 6x4 or 5.5x5.5.
Arc 28 47 1.5 2800

4S LiPo 4000 mAh
80A or 100A ESC with a separate BEC
I would like to spin the mentioned prop over 30,000 rpm
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

RE: Help with motor choice
Well, it is rated as a 400W motor... but it seems that it survives some greater abuse: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=2003

RE: Help with motor choice
I made up my mind to get the Arc motor and now I can not find one closer the Australia. Any thoughts on a good substitute using a 4S 4000mAh battery?
