Default brushless identification info

I bought a foamy kit off Ebay for a cheap price. The motor that was included was a BM2410-08.

This little motor was great had very good power for the size.

Now after several tough landings (foamies don't glide very good). I need to replace the motor.

The question I have is, I understand the "24" and the "10" and the 08 means number of turns on the poles, but what is the differance between a "Y" and a "Delta" motor?

I see some that have say, BM2410-12Y and then another marked BM2410-12D.

The specs for a D seem a little bit better than the Y.

Anyone know?

Larry

Y will give you a lower Kv(RPM/Volt) and higher Kt(Nm/Amp), aprox. 1.7x, verses delta with the same turns.

Which are better?

"Y" are better, unless you are spinning a tiny prop at extreme rpm.

I got to believe you. When running this motor (2408-21T-3D) with a 3 cell, 2200 ma li-po with a 8x4 prop. It will get really hot after about 30 sec of full power.

The spec sheet says I can use a 8x4 thin with a 2-3 Lipo cell.

see the specs:

Dimension:ï¿*31*65mm
Weight: 50g
Voltage: 10V
Idle Current:0.8A
Battery:2-3 Lipo
KV:1400 RPM/V
Shaft Diameter:ï¿*3.0
Max Efficency Current: 13.8 A
Max Efficency: 79%
Max RPM r/min:8200 RPM/min
Max loaded current (A/60s): 16.2/60s
Max Power W/60s:113.4/60s

I have a 2410-08 that I can run all day on the same setup and the motor is cool[8D]

Emailed the company and see with they say.

Back in the days when it was cool and sneaky to rewind the slot car motors with a larger dia wire to increase the current flow and magnetic field to gain extra power from the motor.

The 21 turns per pole made me suspect that it would not be as powerfull and the 8 turn per pole motor.

Just tried a smaller prop (7 x 5 APC). It is much cooler than with the 8x4 prop. Drawing too much current through the windings and they got hot.

Maybe I'll put this on my Zagi with a 5 x 5 prop and see what happens.

Thanks for the idea.
