Default Unconventional way to re-pinch a piston sleeve?

Has anyone here successfully re-pinched a piston sleeve using standard tools?... like a regular vice grip? I have to 20 year old engines which I could afford to tamper with one. Just wondering how hard it would be to do this.

I was always told to try Dry Ice, or liquid Nitrogen to get a sleeve into an engine casing. I haven't tried that in decades!

I guess what I am after is a tighter fit for the piston. The engine seems to have lost its compression.

Have a new piston made is probably the best thing to do if you covet the engines that much. Trying to re-pinch a liner with "standard tools" doesn't work. I tried it. You cannot keep the liner round when you do the hose clamp trick or the like. At best, you need a 3 or 4 jaw lathe collet and a lathe chuck so you can apply pressure evenly around the circumference of the liner ensuring it stays round. But in reality, the liner doesn't wear out - the piston usually does. Usually better off to junk the engine and get a new one if you don't have the means to make a piston or are able to find a new P/L set.

I hear you. I was thinking "well, what the heck I'll either tamper with them or throw them out either way." Thanks for the info guys.
