which way does a fuel filter go?

Default which way does a fuel filter go?

i read the answer in one of the threads ahwile back but I couldn't find it.

Does the side with the black ring go towards the tank and away from the carbeurator?

Mine has the O-ring away from the tank.

Makes no difference as long as its not got a one way valve in too

if it matters it will indicate with an arrow (in the direction of fuel flow) if not, then it does not matter.

I took mine out of the package, cut the fuel line and put it on, the o-ring just happened to be on the carb side. I was not saying the o-ring must be one way or the other. Sorry for the confusion. schmism is right, if there is an arrow the flow must go in that direction.

Most filters work both ways but if you open it first and look inside, the brass mesh filter you need the fuel to flow over the outside of the mesh to make it easier to clean just incase you do get any crap in there
