Glow Plug question
I recently purchased a HPI MT2 18ss.
Now i've been racing Electrics for a couple of years and have only now moved over to Nitro. So I'm kind of new to the nitro scene and probably have some stupid questions that need to be answered.
so I would just like to know how long do the glow plug last.
and
Can i use any glow plug for the HPI engine that comes with the MT2.
Thanks and you help will be appreciated.

RE: Glow Plug question
Of course if it only lasts 2 minutes it's probably way too lean or defective. It should last quite a few hours of run time under normal conditions. You should pull it out and check it's condition of course, just like spark plugs on a 1:1 car tell you about your engine, so do glow plugs.

RE: Glow Plug question
Yeah I know but a plug will only give you the best performance for a limited time. I used to race boats and I tossed the plug after one heat (20 or 30 mins).
I still worked but it was not a top performer anymore. It all depends how you see it. For bashing you could use the plug for hours.

RE: Glow Plug question
i been playing with my tnx for a while i never changed a plug in it, fine if your racing and you want all that extra lil bit then its ok to change the plug after some time, but for me there no probs my engine is fine, my temps are around 230 to 250F
if your plug is bad the first thing is that it wont idle very well!!

RE: Glow Plug question
I had the first plug I threw in my ST for a whole year. Top speed/acceleration was the same throughout that time span. I knew its life was over when it would not keep a consistant idle.
Now for my boats I go through a plug in a month or two using higher nitro(25-60%) and a colder plug.
I've had plugs go out in 2 minutes or so but I am left to assume they were defective.
