they are excellent engines, Toki makes quite a few of the world wide common brand names of rc car engines.

So $65 would be a good price? I bought an SH from this seller before and it has been excellent.

Im not certain, but I think the Toki factory produced my RD Logics Team Infinity .12ci 512 Katana. That engines was my very first nitro engine; it kasted me about 7 or 8 gallons. I am guessing because I broke it in according to the manual (which said to idle it on blocks!!!!) and because I did not take as good as care as I should have.

LOL, stupid speeding tickets!

I am thinking the Toki engine should be of reputable design and production quality. When you get it, break it in using the heat cycling method. Then let us know how it hilds up for you.

toki engines are junk. Orion, peak and fantom used to use them as their engine manufacturer. they had nothing but problems and engines that lasted no longer than 2-5 gallons. its also why they no longer sell their toki made engines.

The Toki made engines I've had experience with were of pretty close tolerance and had exceptionally tight pinches. I had to heat the heads up considerably to get them started for the first few runs, they were that tight. The engines ran excellent and lasted just fine until they were run too cool. For example, the early fantom 18 was a fantastic engine but too many people out there thought it ran too hot but did not realize it was designed that way and opted to put on too big of a heat sink head, thus ruining the engine. The market place forced them to make a bigger heat sink head to satisfy the ill-informed consumer base and thus people started wearing them out in just a few gallons. They were all designed to run warmer than what the general buggy buyer believes is normal. Even the instructions insisted that these engines were designed to run warmer than what was considered normal.
The consumers insistance of running them cooler is why these engines lasted only a couple gallons, not the design!!!!!

In their origonal form, they were a dozen gallon engine, when properly borken in and run.

So what should the temps be? 240-280ish or warmer?

The only toki based engine I've ever owned is now a paper weight after exactly a 1/2 gallon of fuel. The worst engines to ever hit the market IMO.

yeah toki designed engines are about as bad as Vertex engines of taiwan.

Makes me wonder about the CRF engines, because those are made by Toki.

I have a vertex and it's been pretty good, I ported it last night and was trying to find a tune today. If toki makes the vertex then its definitely worth 65 bucks.

I got the engine broken in and it hauls, it is so smooth and quiet compared to the rtr engines. I took it apart and the scrank shaft weight is already notched. It ran during break in as if it was already broken in, I did a couple 1/2 throttle passes and it wizzed by. I'll port it this weekend and see how it does then, I think awesome. Temps were very low and required lots of leaning to break 200, idles great, low end, mid ant top end. 0 complaints here.

Toki make according to what market it wants to sell too.
If its cheap then its not the best quality but then again what do you expect for the price.
Id buy one or two for the price to use for messing around and maybe to mod to see what happens when you mod engines etc...

The make the Orion CRF range of engines and the quality is exceptional.
The infinity range of engines are a budget range good for the basher with limited $$$
