Default Smallest gas engine

hey fellas. I was just curious what would be the smallest gas engine (doesnt matter 2 or 4 stroke). Nitro fuel costs so much these days and I am not so ready to switch to 1/5 scale toys. I realize that gas engine performance will be significantly lower than the same scale nitro engine but I would still love to know the size and what you guys think of putting the smallest gas engine on fairly large car (1/7scale or true 1/8 if possible).
Cheers

I think he means gas as in petrol not glo fuel. 23cc is the smallest I can think of off the top of my head. I vaugely remember seeing a gas motor that was around 10 or 15cc but i'm not sure. Even the smallest would be a challenge to fit to a buggy.

You can convert a normal glow engine to spark ignition and run it on petrol (gasoline). All the goodies needed to do this are available including the miniature spark plugs. You'd probably need to burn quite a bit of fuel to come out even on the cost of converting though .

lol, me and skotty were actually thinking of doing this a while back but backed out when trying to make spark timing work. You probably dont remember but it was back in that long nitrous thread when you measured glow plugs temperature for us . But what are these miniature spark plugs you speak of? Is it a full spark system or only the plug? I would really like to know because this way I can go back to that nitrous idea.

You could look into getting a 4-stroke nitro engine. They are more fuel efficient, and the sound is awesome.

I also found a 25cc 4-stroke made by Honda for strimmers. It's called the GX25. If you remove the fuel tank, cowling, etc. it should be as small as a 2-stroke. It uses less fuel than a 2-stroke and is more environmentaly friendly.

Yeah, so do I. Looks like a good project, and IMO would be worth a try. If I do get it, I'll do a product review on it for everyone to see on my website (www.pxpracing.com), so you don't waste your money if it's bad.

Maybe the guys who hang out in this forum can help?
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_142/tt.htm

Whydoncha ask your ? there ...

I know there are complete electronic spark ignition kits available...don't recall right off hand who makes 'em though...

You can convert 2 and 4 stroke glow engines...(I would think a ringed piston would be better that an ABC but? )

I emailed Comanpagnucci asking where its possible to purchase their car gas burners, so ill post what they say. I dont think it should cost any more than a decent .28 ~$220
