My 35% Carden Extra 330S is DONE !
It is a very good feeling when its finally done . I started in June and made the first flight today . This was my first carden build and to tell the truth it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be . I don't know the weight but it flies like no other plane I've ever own . Before I built this one I couldn't understand what all the hype was about . The way it builds and flys is truly amazing. My set up is hitec 5945 's and 5955's smartfly power expander and turbo regulator DA 100 fromeco battery swb arms and tray. I will post updates as time goes on. I look forward to many many more flights. Thanks for your time . Darrell

Great looking airplane, Darrell! Congrats on the maiden. I also didn't understand the fascination with Cardens until I flew one; that was just a couple months ago and now I own one .

I wish I were still there, I'd love to fly a Carden
It looks great, and nothing short of a DS masterpiece!!! You should see my new one, not as pretty or distinctive as yours. But it's nice to me!

All I can say is the pictures don't do it justice! You really have to see this thing in person to appreciate it! So when you going to build a 40%? LOL You know that isn't far from happening now. Well I look forward to seeing this bird fly many awesome flights man! You are a true Master Craftsman, and I envy the hell out of you for it!

This thread is way out of my league, I am just taking a sneak peak on a dream plane. Hopefully I will get myself one in the future. Your plane looks great.

Tight looking plane....wish that I had the courage to put one together... jsut a bit leary that I'll get hung up along the way then the thing will sit in the shop until who knows when so I think that's why I going to get one an ARC 37.5 AM YAK.... I really like to personalize my planes. I must say again that your Carden really came out nice. Compared to your AM Yak how is the Carden. I really want one. Guess you could say that they are the Cadillacs of r/c planes. LOL!!! Did you cover and paint your Carden kit yourself or did you have some help. Peace

Well I like both planes ,the AM is no carden but its not to costly. The AM floats very good as does the carden . The carden is a way more precise in the moves . I myself am not a great pilot but the carden makes you looks like you are very good . Its hard to explain till you fly one . As for the build there is alot of threads here on RCU and on the carden site that will walk you right through it. I built and covered mine some of the build you will want to talk to Dennis at Carden about to help you understand how he does things. The feeling you get when someone ask if you built it is great and when you fly it, man oh man what a feeling. I think if you want to build one, you can, don't limit yourself by fear. When done , it will be worth it . I hope this helps, now mind you, I have never build one before this one and I think I did ok . I'm going to build a 40% next. Carden of course.

Hey Darrell,
Your extra looks awesome I like the scheme. I use to live in Jacksonville. We use to fly across from the rock quarry. Where do you guys fly now? Do you still own the hobby shop?

Today was good day. I let my friend Elton fly my carden, and wow, this guy is good . Just to see him put the extra through its paces was a real treat. Here is some pic.

RE: My 35% Carden Extra 330S is DONE !
Greetings,
First of all, nice job on your Extra and I'm glad to hear you are enjoying it so much. I built a Carden Cuda last year and I'm finishing up a 35% Edge that will be ready for the next flying season. I am getting ready to order my next Carden and hopefully finish it over the winter. I am considering the 32% Yak or the 35% Extra. Both are about the same size. You obviously love your Extra but did you ever fly the Yak or talk to anyone who has one? I'm having a hard time deciding which one would be the best. I like the looks of the Extra better but it seems like there is a trend towards the Yaks.
Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Once again, nice job!
Steve

RE: My 35% Carden Extra 330S is DONE !
Hi Darrell,
Thanks for the reply and good luck with the Yak. I'm anxious to hear how it goes. I heard the Yak is harder to build than the Extra because of the round fusealage. I'm not as concerned about the extra work as I am the way it flies when it's done.
I hope all goes well.
Thanks again!
Steve

Well the Yak is almost done . I follow the BBW build with some differences , but all in all about the same as T Bob's the only thing that as pi$$ed me off is the monokote I HATE it . But to get the shine you have to use it . the color is like the extra pruple, white and lime green, I ,ll try to put some pic in.
