prepairing the wing cores is next. i start by laying out the ailerons{i,m going the tapered route} and the servo locations.then i install the servo hardpoints and cut the wire channel. last and most important, i make a pattern out of scrap foam so i can find the servo cutouts after sheeting

I started on the wings and getting some of the sheeting glued together. I need to decide on canisters. So Im not sure what to do with the motor box yet. Looks like your getting pretty far now.

only reason for canisters would be to fly imac. my home field has no noise issues and if it wasn't for imac i wouldn't waste the money or take the weight issue! the rpm gain just offsets the weight according to da

Did you use the soldering Iron dohicky thing that Albert used to cut the slot for the servo wire? Looks pretty similar.

Bob I see you twisted the wire on your soldering gun "jig". Have you had any issues with the "loop" not getting hot enough? Because by twisting the wire the "loop" becomes almost a heat sink and the part that's twisted will actually get hotter. I don't know how many watts your gun is but it's probably big enough that you whon't notice it.

albert, you are correct, but at 140 watts it works.i do notice i only get a few cuts and the wire has to be replaced as it no longer transfers heat well.

i deceided today was a mental health day.1st thing i did was pick up my wifes x-mas presents, which will insure my continued health. i installed both tube sockets in the fuse. at this point their tacked in. final glue will be added after the wings and stabs are fitted.i also assembled all the wing sheeting.

I got all the lightning hole cut out on mine yesterday. I got 15 oz out of it using the same method as the guys on flying giants. Looks pretty cool. Everything is ready for bagging. I take it you havent ran into any issues with anything yet? This wait savings will help offset the canister wait. I will be using the MTW cans.

sounds like it's comming along nicely! my shop is currently shut down till the 26TH. to much holiday things to do wishing for santa to bring the lipos and regulators.

the next step is to set the wing incidences. i first glue the pad with blind nut into the wing root. then i screw in short screws with sharpened ends. the fuse is set to zero degrees and the wing is slid onto the tube. make sure the wing is held at zero and press onto the fuse side, this leaves impressions in the balsa side that are then drilled thru. the pads with screws are inserted from inside and the final check for zero is done. when all is perfect, glue one pad at a time in

the second wing is in place at the magic 0.0 angle. the pads are glued one at a time. i leave off the top fuse cross braces until after this step is done. while the glue dries i glued the stab mounting pads in place

the stabs are set next. i use small blocks of balsa tack glued to the fuse side to hold the leading edge in position while i drill the lower mounting holes. the plans call for a #8 sheet metal screw but i use a 6-32 bolt and blind nut.

the hardest part of any build project, imo, is getting the pesky fin on straight! i changed the fin base from 1/4" to hard 1/8 to save weight. i use 3 methods to measure the fin, 1 is 90* to the tubes, 2 is crosshairs on the wall and last is a right angle on the firewall. when all is ready i glue with epoxy.

i haven't posted in a while, but work is progressing. the flight surfaces are hinged and ready for final sanding. i,m now in the process of fitting the foward hatch and at the same time building the canopy frame.

albert, it is the same as the 330. glued to side rails and front and rear 1/4 balsa formers

the cowl is next, i chose to use cardens method of mounting the cowl and everything fit perfectly. i attached the bottom first i installed the da 100 and the spinner first for alignment

after the bottom is tack glued in i added the top former and then the top of the cowl. after all the glass is tack glued to the formers i then add a bead of goop to the joints
