Carden 40% cap
Remember this bird. I have had the extra 330, two caps, two G-300's, two edge 540's, and now I want my cap back. So I have decided to have a kick ***** cap built. With the lighter foam that Dennis is using, and the lighting techniques that builders are using if I could get this plane under 35lbs it would be awsome. I have a carden edge under 35 lbs so it should not be impossible.
I will use carbon gear, spinner, and tubes.
So here is the question, what do people think about the ZDZ 160 super vs the champion, or should I go 3w or da?
how far should I lower the stab, I do not compete so I could care less about the rules. As far as resale no body wants a cap anyway.
lastly are there any other modifications I should consider

RE: Carden 40% cap
Actually one of the reasons I never built a Carden Cap is the thought of trying to put canisters into it. If I was never going to fly IMAC again I would probably build a Carden Cap.

RE: Carden 40% cap
Yes, It's possible to run cans on Cap. I"m flying one now with cans in it. DA sells a short can that is fat. It's the shorter MTW can that they carry. It will fit in there if you are running a DA-150 up front. If you are running a 3W motor, then still put the MTW short can in there, also get the headers from 3W that go along with the engine, then modify the rear OD of the header or the front OD of the Can to "couple" them up. Charge, Fuel, and fly.

RE: Carden 40% cap
Hi, i just got my first Carden CAP232 40% W/ 3W 150CS, but also bought a Dietrich Extra 300LP 39% also with 3W 150 CS. Question, i just can keep one [:@]($$$$)[:@], so each one should i keep?????
One of those gonna be my first big plane as i was flying 50 and 75 cc before (Ultimate and Yak-54).
I fly mostly MILD 3D. The Carden was flying with just one servo per wing (333oz) and the Extra with 2 servos per wing with 170oz each so 340oz total, almost the same as the CAP. Does it make any difference?
Some say that Cardens last "forever" and fly like beeing in a rail but milder and harder for 3D and land. On the other hand the Extra is a easy going, awsome 3D but gonna last maybe 3 or 4 years, is that true?
Please guys, help me choose one!!!!!![:-] Otherwise i'll sell my car to keep both!! How i wish that!!!

RE: Carden 40% cap
i have 2 40% cardens the cap and a 330s and i can tell you without any reservation 1 nice carden is worth 2 of anything else.
that cap is an awsome plane tumbles and knifes edges like no other, with a 3w 150 mine has stupid power comes in a 37lbs.
btw dietrich is a great looking plane, however they do have some body stiffining issues (becoming soft) over time.
