Fuel Proof
Will someone please give me a good method for fuel proofing the engine box and firewall that looks nice and clean. I don't want to paint it but thought about just spraying it with clear.

Here's the best I've found. Brush it on, 2 coat's. Looks real nice, seals very well. its very light, and for 8 bucks you'll get a guart that will do more plane's than you got time left on the planet to build.
MINWAX Fast Drying Polyurethane. I get it at Ace Hardware...

I like the Minwax polyurethane too.
I've also used Zpoxy finishing resing, thinned with rubbing alcohol...but I like the Minwax better.

If it's been a few years since you used Monokote you will be very disappointed with it. Especially the black. It's pretty much unusable.
Of course, I quit Monokote a few years ago because of this, perhaps they fixed the problems since I've switched over to Ultracote.

I mix clearcoat at about 1 to 1 and brush it on after I'm done covering. I make sure to go over the monokote "overlap" this ensures that the oil will not get under the covering. I do however like walt's idea and will try it on my next project.

This stuff is fuelproof?
I presume the spray can would work too?
