Does the Hanger 9 yak have aluminum angle reinforced landing gear mounts or is the landing gear mounting all wood?

I am using Hitec Digital servo 5645 mg. I was about to test fly my yak 54 with a receiver battery Jr ab5000 but a club member recommended a new type battery Li-ion nano 6.6v 2300 mah phosphate AQR40062 at a cost of $56.00. SoI am looking to purchase this new battery.

Its hard wood. Carden uses hard wood for a couple reasons. first it is strong enough to hold up to hard landings and second if you land to hard the bolts will strip out of the holes before the wood breaks. I have hit hard enough on touch and goes to break carbon fibre gear and twist my original aluminum gear with no damage to the plane.

Check out this years first video. A little rusty and some fine tuning needs to be done but not bad for the first time out after a long winter!

I bought the DL-50 for my carden yak (89") after viewing multiple video's of pilot's flying ,with this combo. Seems to have enough power to get the job done alright , but it seems you need max power to do it. To me, that means there's not much room for error (power wise). Therefore , a slightly larger eng. would probably be more suitable & in video's i've seen , that seems to be the case.

I started out with a DL50 on my H9/Carden Yak, it had enough power to fly the plane, but I wanted more so replaced the DL with an Evolution58. It made a huge difference, vertical manuvers are much cleaner now, up lines are now flown effortlessly as compared to the DL which did it but with much more effort. Just my opinion.

Mine has a MT-57 with MT-C65 Canister and flexi header. Swinging a Hawk 23X8, getting static RPM of 6400.
Power via dual A123 packs and HD-9150 servos all round.
Weighs in at 8.4kg.
Lovely Combo. More than happy with power will just keep accelerating out of a hover.

Cheers

I am very new to Large Scale Planes I have just got myself my first one.The Carden Yak 89" would really appreciate if someone could post a schematic diagram of the wiring for a two battery power set up using a 2 Pack Battery Backer harness and will my AR7000 stand up to the current draw I fly with a DX7 and hoped to use the AR7000 or do I need a beefier receiver. Pictures would be a help as well as a schematic diagram.......Happy Flying.......Thanks William.

I am using 2 li-ions into a BatShare into a 2input-2outputSmartfly reg into the reciever. All standard connectors. I am using a 9 channel reciever, but a 7 channel should be fine. I've had no problems with this setup in any of my 50cc size planes. I talked with the guys from JR, they say you can use the same number of high torque servos as the number of channels in the reciever. 7 channel = 7 servos, 9channel= 9 servos.

For my Carden Yak 54, I use a JR 921 receiver which has two battery inserts. The left insert is used for the binding. I have a switch for each battery and turn on the left battery first. The batteries I am using are A123 6.6 2300 mah.

William , please take my advice and make sure you consult with a fellow member at your club who is familiar with giant scale planes. there are several differences in them compared to the smaller scale planes. Make sure they check out your electronics, surfaces etc.... Its to expensive to acidently miss something that another could point out before a mishap!

William
Check out the battery backers connection that comes with the battery. One company has two batteries hooked up where one goes below a certain voltage and the other kicks in. Another company has two batteries hooked up and draws from both . The JR nine channel receiver (921) has two battery ports and draws from both batteries. The left port however is used to bind the receiver to the transmitter. Anyway, redundant is fine to protect your investment and its a good idea. A friend flies a Carden Yak 54 using one 6 volt battery and never had a problem. He flies about three to four ten to fifteen minutes flights in one day before going home to charge the batteries for the next day.

I am glad I found this forum and read through the many comments posted here regarding the H9 Carden YAK. I have had my eye on this plane for several weeks and was looking for some more insight to the plane itself and found the insight I was looking for. So today I put one on order through Chief Aircraft. Looking forward to getting it put together and taking it up. More discussion in a few weeks on how things went.

Just starting my build. I read a couple comments above about stressed engine box, but nobody went into the recommended changes or fixes. Anybody have some pictures of how they reinforced, aluminum angles, triangle stock, just epoxy? It looks kind of weak to me by looking at it, the firewall is thick but where it attaches to the fuse I am surprised how thin the plywood is. I' m sure its enough, but just doesnt seem that way to me because I am new to this.
