Default Carden 40% Cap + tuned cans?

Does anyone know which cans and headers will fit a 3W 150 in a carden 40% cap? There is a tunnel in the bottom of the plane, but the regular 3W/PEFA cans and headers are too long.

I know where you coming from. I thought of installing cans in one my Carden Caps. If I recall the only thing I found that appeared to fit the requirements was from KS or Krumscheid. You'll have to look into the required header length for these cannisters.

I think Krumscheid IS KS. The MTW's may also fit your requirments as they are about to same as the KS.

Yes, they are one and the same...

Do you have a link for the MTW cans?

No, but I can provide you with a picture of my new MTW's next to my old Pefa's if you would like a size comparison. They require an 11-11.5" header.

Pics would be great.

Who carries the MTW's?

Thanks

Here is a picture of the Metall Technik Weiershäuser canister (bottom) compared to the Pefa (top of course). The MTW seems to be noticably lighter, smaller in diameter, but longer. The MTW also will keep the stock power of stock mufflers if not add a few hundred RPM. The Pefa's will generally knock off 200 rpm but are usually the quietest cans out there.

Thanks for the input, but guess just going to use regular johnson mufflers.

The problem we have with fitting a Cap si the low wing mounting height. The main tube is directly in line with the area needed to penetrate with the cannister header assembly.

A short setup shorter than the KS shown is needed.

Michael, email Ivan Kristensen and ask how he mounted his cans in his Cap that he flew at the Master's. He ran the Pefa's, if you are going to run a 3W they really like the Pefa's. His email address is [email protected].

Been there, done it. It's not hard to mount the pefas into the cap. They're just short enough to fit fine without any modifications to the headers other then some slight bends to get them lined up. Got the same rpms as standard mufflers. They're the only cans that will fit that I know of.
