Default Becoming the most expensive free intrepid...

I'm back for my P.O.S. and everywhere I look for a answer to my question all I find is, we'll tell you what you want for money, or don't buy this car.

Here's what I've got for everyone this time...

My 2001 Dodge intrepid se 2.7 is making this great noise from under my valve covers. I'm looking for the rocker arm torque spec to try and do a cheap fix untill I get the money that was for a PS3, now it's for my POS. Ever where I've been all I find when asking for the torque spec every which way from sunday is nothing but people with the same noise I'm talking about and there car dieing 10 miles or less later. I drove 80. On a side note, I did this stupid thing with good intention, My wife met her dad for pretty much the first time. I'm hoping that I only have to get new heads from the junk yard to keep this car running, but I'm almost sure I'm lieing to myself there.

To anyone just reading this just because,

DON'T BUY A DODGE WITH A 2.7L!!!

To top it all off my back is killing me and the fools with the needles are going to stab me in 3 days.

I miss my truck.

Here's a update on what I'm going to try today. I had to move my car to the spot in front of my house and as soon as I started it 1 second later the noise stopped. Went around the block, parked and reved to just under 3k for a little bit, plus one nice stab of the gas since I was feeling brave, nothing bad. I'm going to try flushing the engine once my ride get's here and hope for the best. I still want to open up the valve covers and oil pan after this flush to see what's left, but I'm hopeing that can wait untill I have money to buy real seals and anything that looks damaged from the drive-o-death I put and will put this pile through. I'm almost sure this isn't going to work, but it's worth a try. At least it's only my shoulder that's hurting for now.

At least it's only a sticky lifter, most likely. All my other dodges rocked, they dropped the ball on this one, kicked it under the bleachers as they where closeing them and lost a hand trying to get it out.

http://dontbuyone.com/ <-My mom should of went here before buying one with a 2.7L. Maybe it liked not being taking care of, once I got it and did my new car ritual, I was looking up with my mouth open under a flock of birds.

[edit]

Since when the car is cold it makes the noise stops a second or 2 after startup, then once it's warm it sounds like a diesel. I'm thinking it's the timeing chain steching from the heat.

This reminds me of Ford Escort cylinder heads back in the '80s

After weeks and weeks of waiting I finaly have a garage to open my motor up in. But the way my friends room mates are it might be tomorrow or late tonight to start draining and marking wires and what not to get her open.

I really don't think it has crap to do with the timing, I'm thinking it's what I first thought and has something to do with the valves. If that's the case, it's going to suck trying to find heads in a junk yard since these cars eat them and people grab them for scrap around here.

Hopefully in a few days I'll have a update along with some photos.

Wish me luck, I'm REALLY going to need it with this car

LMAO my kitten just bit our dogs tail and when the dog whiped around the kitty went flying 2 feet into the side of the couch!!! Now he's right back after her tail[>:]

Have fun people, I'm going to dremel some stuff

Wow. I won't take an Intrepid unless somebody pays me.

Advantage? Scrap prices are high. Ditch that puppy and get $400ish out of it and cut your losses.

Against my advice, my brother bought an '02 Intrepid with 40k on it. Had the 2.7.

Before 60k miles, it was doing the same thing. Good luck finding a GOOD 2.7...or get a longblock from a Charger/Magnum/300.

I think it's $15 per 100lbs around here so if it's a sludge fest I might be going that way. I'm lucky that the car was free, so I don't mind, most likely, wasteing my money if I only have to put out a few hundred to get her going. I didn't like the car when I first got it, now its grown on me, and it fit's my family and all the gear to spend a week in the woods. I'm thinking it's mostly my mom's fault since when she got it, 20k on motor, she wouldn't let me do the upkeep like I do for my own cars along with my friends. I'm just hoping that I can get her running right so I can sell the thing and sadly buy a little ricer untill I can get the cash and buy a 4 door truck.

Unless the inside looks great once I get in there, I might keep it and just start saving for something new and just use it as a back up. Only time will tell...

Yeah, I was gonna say...if that were an option, you would've never HAD a free Intrepid to make you yank your hair out.
