Glad to hear you are doing better with the car. I sounds like you idle may be a little to low, but you may want to lean the bottom a touch more and richen the top an hour or so. 250 in the grass will probably be around 230 on dirt.
If you drive the car hard in the grass the engine temps will almost always be higher then if you were to take it easy in the grass.
I personally don't like to run my engines over 240 but a lot of people say 250 is ok.

I really can't tell if you have damaged your engine because I can't see it. It doesn't sound good the the coupler melted. That is really HOT to do that.

A good read, a review made by rc-car magazine on the Cen Matrix RTR.

hello i need some help with this cen matrix buggy. i just purchased this about one week ago. ive been racing a revo. with some mods. and much tuning. any how i thought id try to get into 1/8 scale buggys. sounded like fun. and others told me it was. so i get this matrix. i brake it in, in my parking lot. i took it to a practice for the first time tonight. at a indoor track. i noticed the car did not want to turn good at all. so a friend let me use some other tires and rims. rather than the stock ones it came with. it had more traction but still will not turn hardly at all. the steering servo and turning of the wheels is fine. but it pushes bad. i just put it asside and practiced with my revo. i get the buggy home and i find the rear diff is locked like a locker. and the center diff is locked like a locker. so i take it apart to find the side gear teath broken off and jammed inside. locking it up. and the center diff the same thing. the gear pinned to the rear output yoke was broken. same gear. one tooth. now im really dissapointed here. i have not run it hard. i have not jumped it. i really wish now i would have bought a truggy instead. yes i know u can have problems with any thing. but my revo has been the best truck ive ever had. and it has taken a beating. and it just keeps going. with maintanance of course. but it is one good truck.. so here i am with my week old matrix and i cant even run it. so im going to get parts for it. but is this what i have to look forward to. is broken diff gears all the time. i see it has adjusting shims with it. maybe the gears are too tight. any how this is pretty bad for somthing soo new. that has not been run hard. like i say im new at this. i though buggys would be fun. so this is the one i get. and look what i get. i hope someone can help me. or the cen fella i see on here. so please i need help. im so depressed right now it stinks. i dont want to put it back together just to have gears keep braking in it. any how any help at all would be great. id really like to try to get this thing going. so hopefully i could get into racing it.. thanks soo much a dissapointed bill

sorry for your luck mopar. but your right, my diffs were also too tight and i shimmed all 3. after that they were
smooth as glass. the foams in the tires are way too soft, basically just good for breakin. you can put a light oil
in rear i use 1000wt and have a ton of steering. any new buggy will have a few bugs to work out but once you
get it taken care of youll be good to go. give cen a call about your problems, im sure they can help. ive had a
diff end cap break but my lhs gave me the part. im still working on my setup but so far im happy with the performance.
btw, ive got two kyoshos ive raced the last 2 years, but havent touched since i got the matrix.
just dont get discouraged, it seemed like every buggy ive owned has had an issue of some sort.
get the diffs fixed and shimmed, youll be all smiles!!

hey jayr just got your pm. only had nine buggys show up sunday. we had a great time, the matrix
is running great. still tweaking things, trying to make it better. mostly had kyoshos on the track,
but it wasnt a problem. its real easy to get under them in the corners, the matrix was on a rail.
super dave showed up, took the matrix for a spin. even he was surprised by the handling.
the only problem was too much traction. traction rolled several times, man the track was fast.
well i geuss we will see if the weather lets us run again this weekend. new years day was awesome!
have a safe trip.

Thanks for the update Trackman. I can't wait to get my buggy up and running, I'm really happy that the Matrix has begun to have a good following. I guess alot of naysayers should give credit to CEN which I think till now has been very underrated and overlooked. I'm so proud to be a Matrix owner. I'd really love to see your Matrix in action if you could post a video of it here in RCU videos or in this thread that's if it's fine with you. I've always wanted to see the Matrix in action but havent got the chance yet.

Take care and God Bless, Jr.

I'm with wes on this one. I have tried to shim my front dif but it still feels cluncky. All of the teeth are fine so I assume it has to be the shimming.

One front wheel turns smoothly the other turns smooth one direction but the other direction it cluncks. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What I did to my diffs was to put two shims in there and ran the car for about 4 tanks and took the shims out. The reasoning behind this is these gears have some flashing on them causing them to stick alittle when new. Once you run them spaced out the flashing is worn down and when you take the shims back out the diffs are like butter. Hope this helps.
