RE: Whats This?
I am JEALOUS! You have a waterjet? [X(] I gotta see what it looks like installed!
Oh yeah one thing to consider, you are gonna want to cross-brace the two halves near front and rear and the top for integrity, maybe just some aluminum rod. If it takes a shot at either of those places I think it's gonna bend in toward the chassis. It's going to need to be rigid unless maybe you use Ti or 7075-T6. A carbon fiber cross braced ones would be awesome! Strength and light weight.

RE: Whats This?
Actually, I have several different types of CNC machines at my disposal The water jet is new..
The first prototype is going to be cut on a router type Point to Point and on 1/4" Acrylic just to be sure of the fit and size before I cut the all Mighty alloy. Then if it goes well, off to the Nested base water jet to make several on one sheet. I still need more testing and developement Before I comit to several but you will be the first to know about it!!
I am starting the drawings for the Lower Center Of Gravity(LCG) version of the OEM Dual Verticle Plates(DVP) Just to see How well is handles and jumps..
At the very least, I get one bashing Chassis And 1 Racing Chassis

Well Michelob,
You Must be trying to read my mind....Close very close.
Something rigid yet flexible enough to take a shot....maybe, we will see what testing proves.

RE: Whats This?
Even better yet! A carbon fiber, LCG chassis....... I can see it already..... blowing away the competition
Awesome job on the process and design........ Are you gonna at least try to break the mockup polycarbonate ones? A nice jump should do....That would be fun.
Here is some 3/8 12x12 sheets for $32.... black or white.

RE: Whats This?
Are you kidding ON VIDEO!! That was the real point of doing it out of acrylic instead of Lexan
I have to admit I thought of the same block wall I did a high speed smash into, just to see if it would stay running this time too.
I can get black and white... I want colors Like Blue But I dont think it is made in colors

RE: Whats This?
I might Even be able get past the cooling problem with some very well placed shapes Maybe.. Looking to get some ideas on that and any other problem that can be thought of
So suggestions are very welcome... As my posts will be step by step, so you guys can see the developements and make suggestions.
I think I can get as much as 25mm Lower Center Of Gravity..

RE: Whats This?
I cannt wait to see how this turns out, I would be interested in gitting one of these for my genesis. Im just wondering how it will do if i land upside down off a jump, and then if one little piece breaks, would i have to replace the whole part.
just wondering.
just wondering.

RE: Whats This?
Jason, The Dual Verticle Plates(DVP's) will be 1 piece however with the rigorous testing and developement planned there will be some very strong X-bracing(Carbon Fiber, Delrin, Titanium, whatever works best) so breakage will be impossible for the DVP's. But some bending "might" be possible but I doubt it. Well Will See.......

RE: Whats This?
It would kinda hard to price this early in developement, but I can tell you it WILL be affordable since I am an RC enthusiast myself and I would want anyone to afford it.

RE: Whats This?
Really depends a lot on materials as well......
I must add this note as well, please do not discuss actual purchasing or sale details in this thread, since I will have no choice but to remove them. Discussing what a fair price should be would be fine. All details regarding any selling should be discussed in PM or e-mail privately for your best interests as well as RCU's. If anyone has questions feel free to contact me or read over the RCU policy on selling in the forums. I am not saying any rules have been broken, I just don't want to see the thread get removed.
