RE: GST 7.7 NOT MADE TO RUN, BUT NICE TO LOOK AT!!!
Hi guys,
I am thinking about getting a GST 7.7 to add to my monster truck collection. However I seem to get very negative feedbacks from everyone I talk to, and even from people from the local hobby stores. Anyone here have one that can give me some unbiased feedbacks?

nomobux,
Thanks for your reply. I actually am one of those guys who take real good care of my trucks. I got into this whole RC hobby about 5 months ago and now Im hooked. It all started this past xmas with my first RC vehicle (AE's MGT 8.0). I would like to collect all the moster trucks from the major players. So far I got the MGT 8, Savage XL, New Tmaxx, and Losi LST2. I am looking at getting the CEN, because it seems like a contender in the monster truck arena. I just get a lot of negative feedbacks. I do understand that maintenance is the key to keeping the trucks running. Im into the whole cleaning after each day, after run after each day, BDC.. etc.. etc... I love my cars so I am very anal about maintaning them. I think I will be looking into getting the GST now.

When the truck is off, holding the 2 back or front wheels, turning the other 2 your not holding, how hard do you have to move them to see the bell and gears moving? Also, when you hold the bell still and try and move the bigger gears a little, to you feel a tiny little bit of room or is it tight?

I would like to know what would be a direct drop-in engine for the genesis gst thats more powerful than the stock motor and which motor mounts are used.

hey guys, the question about a motor that will drop straight into the GST, well I hear....that the Thunder Tiger PRO-50 engine drops straight in on the existing GST mounts, perfect fit, apparently. I can try to find out more if anyone wants, personally I'm only new and have no idea, just something I read in another forum

Measurements for mounting says 17.5mm for the holes...But looks like the carb slide in on the other side compated to the NX76 carb...Yes I know Cen claims to be a 5HP engine.
And yes there has been some dyno testing done claiming 1.7 HP for the nx engine..But hey you can make a dyno read what you want..I am no engine expert and only read facts..
You can put any thing you want I guess in the GST if you can get it too mount up and use the clutch..There is even a kit for going to Gas conversion like 700 bucks for the kit.Not sure where I seen that .
You can go to www.ultimatehobbies.com and get the ThunderTiger Pro 50 BK for $89.99

Ok every body. I have a Genesis that is using a Thunder Tiger Pro-50 engine. Its an awesum engine and starts first time evrey time and it definately "feels" as though it has more power over the standard Genesis engine. It uses the Genesis engine mounts and throttle linkage. I think everything is pretty easy to bolt them on there. But there was some sort of modification so we could use the Genesis clutch so as to be able to use the 1st and 2nd gears (my sisters father inlaw installed it for me, I can find out exactely what was done if anyone needs me too!).
The only thing that i dont like about the Pro-50 is the fact that the exhaust exits the engine on the fuel tank side and so therefore has to go right around the engine to meet up with the original muffler. This also means that the header pipe is extremely close to the shock absorber which has melted mine ever so slightly. Having the exhaust exit on the fuel tank side is probably also the main reason i have developed a crack the whole way around the header pipe where it bolts on to the exhaust port, as this allows for flexing of the whole exhaust system as the car drives around (and crashes). So I am now waiting for a new Thunder tiger exhaust header to turn up in the post so I can continue thrashin the beast.
PHEW! If ya have any questions dont heitate to ask.
I can also try to upload some pics if you like!

RE: GST 7.7 NOT MADE TO RUN, BUT NICE TO LOOK AT!!!
The only mod he said ya have to do to "mate" the thunder tiger-50 to tha old cen genesis is he had to make the tapered piece that that flywheel mounts up against on the engine side. In the Genesis manual it is illustrated as part No. GS008, and it is called a drive cone. He had to do this on a lathe by hand. He said the exhaust header is not a thunder tiger unit but from a GV .46. (I have never heard of a GV.46).
Otherwise it will all bolt on to the original Genesis engine mounts etc etc!

RE: GST 7.7 NOT MADE TO RUN, BUT NICE TO LOOK AT!!!
The GV.46 is a Force.46.The GV model that used the Force.46 engine was the Rambo 1/7 scale buggy, basically same as the XTM XLB.Hope this helps..Sounds too much like messing about with cracked headers, melted shocks and side exit exhaust when in my opinion the NX7.7 is decent, powerful and fast enough but whatever floats your boat.....
