What is the best bang for your buck suff for a hawk pro

I am trying to save money and have been dieng to get a .30 size

I have an Optic 6 radio and an electric starter already
Do i need and extension or somethinf for my electric starter?

I also have 30 heli fuel

Can the hawk pro do some decent rolls, loops, and inverted flight?

The Hawk Pro comes with a Nice Looking Black Muffler, Infact it looks exactly like the Chrome version Heli-World / Century offers! I have seen my fair share of Tune Pipes / Mufflers / Silent Pipes in my day and to tell you the truth the Muffler that comes with the Hawk Pro is pretty good considering they give it to you.....

I really do not know the best bang for the buck as for upgrades go for the hawk pro, But I am putting everything they make aftermarket that will fit, LOL

I can tell you this, It seems that the Anti-Rotation Bracket I purchased seems to be a nice little upgrade!
All in all you might want to get some new Carbon or Glass Blades and discard the woodies, But then again the woodies that come with the hawk seem to be okay, Compared to others out there, Especially if you are just starting to fly heli's.

Keep us posted on your decisions mate

Hey thanks man!

After doing some research it appears that you don't need a starter extension.

probabley an os .37

I have also herd that s3001 servos are designed for helis.

Any recievers seems fine at this moment.

I think i will also go with the gy 240 unless i can get i nice 401 used for around 100, there seems to be alot of people selling them on rcgroup.

Is a pitch gauge needed or is it not?
Also, do i need a dubro safty ignitor
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wto0149p

BTW, this will not be my first heli. I already have a LM corona and can do basic hovering and foward flight. I am hoping to move up when can to nose in which is limiting me in foward flight. I here that the bigger the rotor the more stable and i have also herd the cp is easier to fly. I can't afford a raptor and can't affor electric right now.

Also, i am hopping this heli can do aerobatics (loops, rolls,) I am not as interested in 3d as i am in inverted flight. Can it do those things
Thanks

Toki 40 - awsome, it has more power then the OS37 I had in another.

But note that the needle threads are very fine compared to others so you shuld start at 4 1/4 open on each (main needle and idle/hover screw) and tweak from there instead of 1 1/2 like the OS.

Where should a header tanker be placed at on the Century Hawk? Directions say that the middle of the header tank should be placed level with the carb but the way the main tank is setup I can't get the middle of the header tank even with the carb.

I have the header tank positioned on the last frame bolt on the same side as the tank. It is higher than the carb, but so far I have had no problems with that spot. I don't know where else you could put it.

+1 with the header tank on the rear bolt. Slightly higher than the carb but is working for me.

Here are a couple pics. ! more question i know i need a hex starter extension but i want to use my drill instead of my starter so will this work http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFUU1&P=7 ?

buy the new aluminum cooling fan. it eliminates the hex starter shaft completely. the fan has a one way bearing in the top of it. you remove the stock hex starter shaft and the two bearings but leave the bearing blocks in. the hex wand on your starter inserts thru the bearing blocks directly into the one way bearing on the fan. works fantastic. much smoother and quieter. go to heliworld.com and look under heli upgrades for the hawk. it shows everthing and has photo instructions. you have to buy the new fan and a new wand. it cost me $50 shipped. i highly recommend it.

Technically, nitromethane is NOT flammable below 95* F which is its 'flash point'. This is why we need the glow plug to heat things up. Of course it will still burn below 95* F given a continuous source of ignition. You can also boil the stuff on your stove, as long as you keep it below the autoignition point of 784* F. It will start to boil at 213* F. Of course the methane is mixed with other things in the nitro gas you buy and is only a 15-30% part of the whole, so all these numbers will change.

nitromethane info
http://www.atmos.umd.edu/~russ/MSDS/nitromethane.html

Especially check the section called "TARGET ORGAN DATA". It appears that the inhalation of the stuff causes behavioral changes which forces victims to spend more money on more nitro toys.

If any of you guys are having problems with fuel foaming try this.

I used a 16 oz non flex tank but its a little tight. I would recommend a 14 oz flex tank. Also use counter sunk bolts for the tail support and counter sink the frame sides from the inside. The pic is not my bird. I will post some pics of my Hawk on Wednesday.

Most all fuel foaming I have encountered in these helis was a case of the heli "talking to the pilot". It was telling him his motor was set TOO LEAN - NOT the main needle, but the idle/hover screw.

Of course one could isolate the tank so that it cannot talk to the pilot anymore. But IMHO, why muffle the messanger, I think it far better for the engine and to listen to his message.

Thank you all. I have been trying to decide for months which heli to get and this is the first thread I've read that had only good things to say. I think I'll be ordering mine this week. I've worn my Blade CP out and feel ready for a 'real' heli.
