Default Absolutely honest People from Century !

Doe anybody have anything to say about Century. Well, i have really an awesome experience with them. I returned my toki engine because it exploded all the parts inside during flight which ofcourse caused quite a chunk out of my wallet. But needless to say i returned it to century after all interrogations i had to go through before they take it for repair. The engine was about 2 mos old and maybe 2 to 3 gallons. During the repair period, they called me about 2 mos later that they need my permission to retap the carburetor screw. I gave them the go ahead to do whatever is necessary (pissed ). Two and half months later they called me up and said they didn't go that route (really pissed). They ended replacing the carb i believe. I waited for 3 mos and ended up paying 30 dollars for everything when i could have just bought me a new OS 32 and enjoyed the bird during the summer time. During the time when i call them for updates, all i got was they were back up and my engine was next on the line. My question is, how many toki engines are they getting for repairs (hint)or better yet how many engine specialist they have that they are so backed up everytime i call. Also do you believe that they ran 2 gallons of fuel on every engine they fixed? Take note it is 30% they used, so they told me i dont need to break it in. They must get the fuel real cheap somewhere. So does anybody want a new refurbished TOKI engine ? Yes, again hint - hint- hint for those TOKI owners, take good care of your engine because you maybe next in line if you don't , that's all i can say. Just wondering !!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I must really be slow....was this a good experience or a bad one you've had with century? In my book it was a bad one. This is one reason I do all of my own engine work.

No, you're not slow at all.......... It was really the opposite of what i've said. It was a bad one, ofcourse. I was just being sarcastic about it.

hey guys, i finally got my toki engine from century, last wednesday dec 14,05. Out of curiosity why it took 3 months for them to fix my engine, i decided to open up the back case to see what they did. First thing I noticed was there were no oil residue on the exhaust port, and that really convinced me that they ran 2 gallons of 30 percent fuel. As soon as i opened the case, i was shock to death that it looked like a desert inside, it was so dry, it was so dry that rust is forming. It was literally dry, i thought I could find a cactus or two in there. Here is the pictures i took i thought it would support what im talking about. http://www.rcuniverse.com/gallery/ga...emberID=107368, or you could look it up at my gallery by going to members gallery here. The one on the left is a OS37, the one on the right is TOKI 40. I opened my OS 37 to get an idea how much lubrication or oil residue so that i can compare it to the one supposedly CENTURY had run and bench tested for me.

They explode on the ground after a mid air, just order anouther one. Alot less hassel!

my experience and opinion, do not buy a Toki! Century was ok to deal with(once they hired Ron) but the quality of Toki is very bad. Bad carb(they replaced free)two broken cranks(rebuilt motor after first one)never ran right. and yes i know how to tune two strokes. crashed my hawk pro last weekend because of that motor.

OK, does this mean that I should not replace my Nexus with a Hawk Pro, or is this bad customer service just with the Toki engine. I wanna move my OS 32 over to whatever I get. Just figured that the new Hawk Pro would be easier to get parts for, and it's only $209.00...
My Nexus still looks like new, and it doesn't need anything right now, but all those old plastic parts kinda make me nervous. If Century's customer service sucks, then I'll keep flyin the Nexus till I find a replacement.

get a hirobo sceadu Evo 30. It will fly with your OS 32 fine and then when you've out grown it, it will cost you about 100 dollars to upgrade it to a 50 (minus the engine of corse). This way when you are ready to start serious acrobatics/ beginning 3D you've only envested in a new motor (may i sugjest the os 50 hyper) and the upgrade parts rather than a whole new bird. I love my sceadu and it has a toki 40 in it with a tuned pipe and it is money! Once i start to 3D i'm gonna get an os 50 Hyper and the upgrades.

I have no interest in heli areobatics at all, just scale flying, but I would like a replacement for the Nexus because of the parts issue. Plus I see the Nexus as a classic from the past and would like to retire and display it while it still looks like new. The reason I was looking at the Hawk Pro so hard, is because there only a few hundred miles from me here in Calif. (San Jose)
I don't even really stunt my planes much either. Basically I fly for the same reason some people fish, just to relax... No 3D madness for this dude. lol I'll look at the Hirobo, thanks !

You won't be dissapointed in the Hawk Pro. I bought one a while back so that I could retire the nexus, and have never regretted my decision. You will love it. It flies great. I liked it so much, I went out and bought a predator Max to add to my fleet. I think Century quality is very good, and the customer service has been second to none in my opinion.

Thanks ! Thats very good to hear, cause their fairly close to me. I know some people speak poorly of the nexus, but I find it to be very well engineered, and flawless for me. Mine looks like new too... I guess they don't 3D well for the big boys, so they don't like em. I seriosly doubt that I will ever even attempt a loop, so that stuff doesn't matter to me at all. How did your Nexus fly ? This one taught a few other people to fly before I got it for 200.00 and did a full bearing replacement, so it's been a very good machine, and still rocks my world... I don't think it has ever been crashed by the looks of it, but who knows...

I loved my nexus. It taught me to fly, and flew fairly well. The heli itself is a 10 -15 year old design, so you can't really compare it to today's machines., but it can still hold it's own. Right now, it's in pieces and once I have the time, I will rebuild it just to have it. The Hawk Pro can handle anything you can dish out at it. 3D is no problem, so when you are ready, she can take it. Quite a few people have had bad luck with the Toki engine, but there are more people that have had good experiences with them. My Hawk has the OS .32 in it, and it does pretty well, but sometimes when doing some mild 3D, a larger engine would be a little better. If you have doubts about the Toki, then you can get yourself an OS 37 . The power output is not quite as high as the Toki, but pretty good still. The good thing about the Hawk, is that if you are into scale flying, there are plenty of scale fuselages that can fit the Hawk mechanics with very little modifications.

I like scale flight, but I also like to be able to remove the canopy in 5 seconds. I just like to fly scale like because I know if I try to learn 3D, I will crash alot learning, and it's just not worth it to me. Im totally happy right now just to fly around. The Hawk will be more than fine for me with my OS 32 in it I believe. I bet I never use more than 1/2 the power that my Nexus has available. I don't even do loops with it...
