Don,

the Conquest series were a Dave Patrick design (if memory serves) and I think they made it up to version 8 or 9. The early ones were piped 60 designs and as expected, the later ones would transition to 120 4-strokes.

If you search this forum, you will find photos and posts on 4-stroke Conquests. Rusty Dose, a prolific poster at one time, has posted on it.

Thanks David.

Anyone have a plan of the four stroke 1.20 model? Or the specs, wingspan etc.?

As you know I have the Conquest IV and would like to see some of the others. A customer of mine was hoping to find one of the four stroke versions VI or VII, and I will make it if I can find the kit or plan of one.

The kitted versions of the Conquest:
Conquest IV (4) by Phillips Aircarft
Conquest V By R/C City
Conquest VII BY R/C City
Conquest 120 By R/C City
The Conquest V was modified by Jim Graham (owner/founder R/C City) mostly with a deeper fuselage.
The Wing and stab of the CV and CVII are identical.
The Conquest 120 is pretty much the Conquest VII on Steroids.
I built a V and a VII, both flew very well, but I preferred the V with the larger fuselage profile. Dave Patrick flew the VII at the '89 WC and made the finals.
I know of at least one Conquest VII built with a YS 91AC (about 25 years ago). It flew great but it was a tight fit getting the engine installed.

My customer sent me pics of the VI & VII and they were 1.20 four strokes. Were there 2 stroke and four stroke versions? Or did the guys just put four strokes in the planes he had pics of? Any plans for any of these?

Well I got the Conquest VI sent to me, it has a .60 2 stroke in it. I think guys in the 90's were just putting 1.20 4 strokes in them to slow down.

Very nice Illusion. Can someone give me more details and history about this airplane. I got out of R/C in the early 80's so I assume this was a later design? I flew Tippo's back then and thinking about building one again. Although this may be a better choice? Thanks Dennis

The Illusion is an evolution of the Tiporare with less stab anhedral and made for a side exhaust engine tilted about 45 degrees downwards from being side mounted (i.e. about 45 degrees from fully inverted) so that the header and pipe centered around the bottom of the fuse. Despite this, many dont build it this way. To my knowledge, Dave Brown only campaigned it for about a year or so, coming in 2nd behind Ivan Kristensen in the 1983 Nats Masters class, the last year for the classic "one manouver per pass" pattern style in the top class. In 1984, turnaround pattern started to fade in and designs started evolving accordingly

Yeah, Dave lost to Ivan in '83, but Ivan flew his Citation extremely well and just a bit better than Dave. I was 5 flyers behind Ivan in '83 and saw all of his flights and they were impressive. I only saw 3 of Dave's flights including his last one which was good, but not good enough. Dave actually flew his Illusion again about 7 years later at the Nats, more to participate than compete seriously, though he did pretty well.
Both models fly great. I have a Citation kit waiting to be built one of these days.

Hi Denber,
Here is a link to my build thread of Don's Illusion.

I also built and flew the Tiporare (3 of them) back in the day.

Guys I'm working overtime on the new shop build but will try my hardest to put numbers on some of the new wood laser cut kits Pat and I have been working on the last couple of months. This weekend I should get some of them posted. Hang in there There's more than a 100 kits now and that takes a lot of time to get all the files done..

Hi Pete,

Working on it now along with many others. Two of the three molds for the Atlanta are finished. When I received the ZigSaw plugs for the Atlanta the deal included what looks like the reference patterns for every part that was included in the original ZigSaw kits imported by Golden Gate Hobbies. Not sure how I'm going to handle that yet. Monty Maddox the owner of Golden Gate Hobbies called me back in August. He is getting back into pattern flying and went into great detail about some of the Atlanta history.

I will leave that topic for him to comment on if he cares to. My T2A MK II kits are ready to go now. My web site will be updated soon for those interested.
