To the Classic Pattern forum members and RC Universe moderators,

Don, your statement is completely false. I have never copied any of your work. I have original molds from Aero Composites and many others from back in the day. Any new molds I have were made from fuselages donated to me from other sources. I expect a public apology on this forum.

You can prove that, right?

Wow is right I've been to Leo's shop. Never have I seen so many of the original manufacturers molds in one place.

I wasn't going to say anything and just let Leo's work speak for it's self, but since frequent flyer is accusing Leo of copying his wotk let me just say I've seen your fuselages with the exopy runs and wrap tails and it doesn't even come close to Leo's work. Copy, who would copy that.

I agree Computermonkey. I have some of Leo's work myself, and the fiberglass work is outstanding. I just received a Little Toni form leo, typical flawless finish. HMM,,,,,,,, I wonder if he copied that one too???? NOT!

The forum should have not been a place for you to say this Don, A personal message probably would have been better........

I have known Leo for a lot of years and can attest that he did not copy anything he bought from you Don. He supported you in buying the 12 or so fuselages so he could have a piece of history airplane that he had always wanted to build, Not to copy.

Then he bought the original molds so he could produce a quality airplane and has spent many hours mastering Epoxy lay up procedure's, and his final product shows it.
Leo knows Quality and that is why he is marketing airplanes from Original molds with quality materials.

His company name isn't { IT'S GOOD ENOUGH COMPOSITES }

BALLISTIC AIRCRAFT BABY.. Lets go flying and have some fun now. LOL

I find it interesting that Don and Leo have three letter names and popular cartoon avatars.

Hi Joe,
That's me in another time and place, SoCal and my last Pitts Special.
No, not much. American cleaned us out of there with the end of BK in March 2014, my base is Dallas now. There are still about 180 TWA guys in STL. Easy commute from Dallas to Tucson.
I did get a new little biplane, a Knight Twister. It's all apart but I'm getting some stuff together for it while I finish our house.

To bad we didn't get back together when you had your place in St Ann. Oh well busy times.
You take care

Ah well, maybe we'll get to fly sometime in the future still.
Sub 700 lbs with 125 hp the airplane was recorded at 160mph as built. Of course I'm going to use a 180 hp engine with a constant speed prop in an effort to cruise at 200 mph and with a 35 gallon tank can go 3 hours plus for maybe some CAFE racing fun. I can clean it up a lot and it's already very clean.

Bring it to Reno in September and hook some pylons with it. We have a biplane class.

I used to do that but I've joined the retired pylon racers like my Dad and other living friends.

This KT is called the Sunday Knight Twister and has 81 sq ft of area and so is legal (along with my buddy Miniplane racer Carl Robinson's Imperial Knight Twister which is 76 sq ft and has an airfoil the same as Don Fairbanks old White Knight which hauled the mail with a 320 at 196mph) but I'm not into that anymore. The all red S-1C had a 320 and I raced it in '98, the red, white and blue S-1D had a nice little HO-360 and I flew it in '99. I modded it as a Wolf Pitts and it is now racing with Dave Roelofs as Purse Snatcher.

Wifey no likey, but approves of regular flying like acro at reasonable height, sports cars and model airplanes and never complains about the dough spent. You can't beat that.

Hey Stuntflyer,
your all red S1C looks almost exactly like the cover art for the old Midwest Pitts kit. I got a Pitts kit for Christmas (1975, I think) and finished it in the color scheme shown on the box (and plans) as the kit included all the decals for that scheme. Obviously you are a bipe lover!

Be very careful with the weight I have that one and I love to lines but it's very easy to get it tail heavy. I had to put almost 16 ounces. in the nose to balance it. I tempted to build another one to see if it can be built without adding any weight to the front end to balance. I built it as light as possible I thought. Very lightly glassed the wing and tail and then painted with urethane paints. Probably that is the weight.

A pound of ballast in the nose, Holy Crap. You are the victim of a totally amateur fuselage laminate with a stupid amount of fabric (or gobs of resin) in the back. I can not conceive of a way it would need any nose weight. A proper constructed aircraft should come out a tad tail heavy with a period correct engine, and require an ounce or so of tail weight with a novarossi or equivalent engine. Yea, you need to build another one.

No, the fuse was 15 oz and everything was very light around 9 lbs. until balance time. No excessive anything, 1/2 oz glass cloth on the wing and stab. foam cores and very little resin on the cloth. But the paint is what probably did me in.
