RE: SPMRC Classic Pattern Primer
Just wanted to say the weekend is almost here and the forecast is AMAZING!!!!
We are going to have a blast.
I am looking forward to meeting a lot of new people!
If you are just reading this and still want to participate and haven't practiced... Don't be shy! We'll talk you through the maneuvers. You'll have a great time. We are focusing on the Novice and Sportsman classes of the current CPA pattern sequence. If you don't know what that is, bring an airplane close to 72 inches or less in wingspan that can do basic rolls and loops (this would include trainers!). You are most welcome to participate and the charge is FREE!
I hope to see you there.
Brian
p.s. We do have prizes!!!!

RE: SPMRC Classic Pattern Primer
Minneapolis was my home, but uncle Sam did need my services and I left in 1965. I have always wanted to return and if you had a CPA contest it will most certainly give me an excuse to return. Looking at the address for your field brings even more memories. I used to work for Control Data on Lexington Avenue North while I was attending Brown Institute. Godd luck this weekend and I hope to meet you guys down the road in the Minneapolis Saint Paul area.

We are hoping this one really turns out and we can do more. I would love to continue a yearly Primer and a later CPA contest. I hope it is in the cards....
It would be even better if more clubs would host as well!
I hope our paths cross.

RE: SPMRC Classic Pattern Primer
I am thinking this particular weekend was a bad choice. A lot of things going on in Minnesota with hunting and the fishing opener... We still had a blast though!
I may push it a few weeks later next year.
We found with this 1st pattern primer that everyone enjoyed spending the majority of the morning simply learning the maneuvers and learning how to fly the patterns. We ended the event with a scored round for prizes.
Next year I hope add more scored rounds. We will also slowly bring everyone a little closer to the real deal at each event. However, I don't think the "primer" will hold a heavy focus on being competitive, but learning.
This year is full at my club for another added event, so I am hoping to find nearby clubs in the surrounding area and states that would be willing to begin this way as soon as they are able. This is essentially a pattern fun-fly, with the goal to teach and interest others in vintage CPA pattern flying leading to the full CPA sanction. Hence- a real primer.
I may start a new thread discussing this.
There wasn't one person that participated that did not COMPLETELY enjoy themselves! It was fun.
A special thank you to Kevin Barkow for your willingness to help and teach us how to do better. Your flying was wonderful as well!
Loops will be the death of us!

I am hoping the Escape will make life easier in this regard (Looping).
If I can master it with the Super Kaos, I can do anything! HA!
I have the guide. I brought it out, but people were too concerned about it getting in their way. I'll be using it this year to get better.
Use the training aid on the other classic pattern forum site... makes practice easier.....
