YS 60 FR bearings?
I need to replacebearingson YS 60 FR. I have removed head, liner and now piston rod will not slip off crankshaft. What method of removing piston is recommended need advice on changing bearings? Does the regulator pump assy. need to be removed to take out crank and source for bearings?
Thanks

Hi Tim,
First, you should be able to get bearings pretty easily. Boca bearings has a nice index of just about every modern (last 40 years, anyway) engine and the bearing sizes (front and rear) required. There are lots of places to get bearings - just google!
As for removing the rod from the crank: first you need to remove the regulator and diaphragm and all rubber parts and gaskets. Now heat up the engine in your oven (put it on a piece of aluminum foil on the broiler pan). I heat up the oven to 300F and put the engine in for about 5 minutes. I grab it using some paper towels to insulate my hand and use a piece of hard wood (dowel or equivalent) to pry the rod off. It can be a bit frustrating. I just rebuilt 6 OS rear exhaust engines (mostly Hannos) about a year ago and all but 1 disassembled easily - that one had a stubborn rod as well. I did get it apart successfully, but it required some effort! Good Luck!
