    BPA

WOW!!! Its time for the one that got it all started back Ballistic pattern returns to Huntsville Alabama for the 5th year.

600 ft. Paved runway, covered pit area, Air conditioned club house, lunch included, Field smack in the middle of town with more than enough flying area.

I will run this contest as I have run all the other ones.. NO restrictions. Run what you brung and hope you brung enough!!!! with a little centering and geometry scrutiny thrown in to make it fun.
Please! Ballistic style aircraft preferred.. (BPA/CPA..SPA) Gas or electric..
Field closed for contestant practice on Fri Aug 17 at noon fly till Aug 19 till the contest concludes..

    RE: Huntsville BPA/CPA Contest

Nick and I are planning to be there this year along with our wifes and kids (Grand kids). I will be flying my Saturn that I have had since the mid 70's. Have an OPS .60 in it. Nick will be flying one of the new ARF Dirty Birdies with an OS .61 Rear Exhaust in it. Hope to get there Friday in time for a couple practice flights and some visiting.

Hey Dave, We're really looking forward to the contest also. It will be only our second contest this summer. Hope it's not as hot and humid as it was when we pitted beside each other at the Lake Charles Nats in '78.

The Huntsville BPA contest is less than a week away. Weather forecasts look very favorable at this point, with mild temperatures and good weather predicted. As an added bonus, Jim Graham of R/C City has generously agreed to donate a LA-1 kit for a pilots drawing on Sunday!

The field will be open for practice at noon Friday, and we should be finished by noon to 1PM on Sunday. C'mon down and join us!

    RE: Huntsville BPA/CPA Contest

Dave Phillips. I arrived at Huntsville today. Went to RC field for a few pratice flights. On the 3rd flight the header on my OPS broke. Do you have an Rear Exhaust OPS header I might borrow for a couple flights? Mine is the one that is straight but angled up about 10 degrees.

I realize you may have already left but thought I would give this a try.

    See you tomorrow,

    Ralph,

I don't have a rear Ex OPS header of any kind. The only ones I have are Rossi,OS and Webra. There is a Buddy of mine that fly's with us,that flew OPS stuff Back in the day and could have one!!! His name is Mike Wingo and lives in Huntsville... If any of the guys are around, just ask about Mike..

Thanks for replying Dave, I meet Mike at the field today. He said he will dig through his stuff and see if he has one.

Scott, I don't think the JB weld will have enough time to hold. It's broke right at the engine exhaush tab.

    See you all tomorrow,

    Ralph,

Yep you might be right... here is the specs...

JB Weld - Like metal, J-B WELD can be formed, drilled, ground, tapped, machined, filled, sanded, and painted. It stays pliable for about 30 minutes after mixing, sets in 4-6 hours, and cures fully in 15-24 hours. It's water-proof; petroleum-, chemical-, and acid-resistent; resists shock, vibration, and extreme temperature fluctuations, and withstands temperatures up to 500° F. J-B WELD is super strong, non-toxic, and safe to use. Before it sets, you can clean up with soap and water. (print instruction sheet)

Here is JB Quick lower temp 300 F but quicker cure time-Like metal, J-B KWIK can be formed, drilled, ground, tapped, machined, filled, sanded, and painted. It stays pliable for about 2 minutes after mixing, sets in just 4 minutes, and cures fully in 4 hours. It's water-proof, petroleum-, chemical-, and acid-resistent; resists shock, vibration, and extreme temperature fluctuations, and withstands temperatures up to 300° F. J-B KWIK is super strong, non-toxic, and safe to use. Before it sets, you can clean up with soap and water. (print instruction sheet)

I have used it on a tractor engine block and it held...
