Here are a few pictures of my new Quality Line Curare. Waiting for a good day for maiden flight.

Alright. I'll ask. How do I buy one? I have a NovaRossi that needs a home. I miss the Great Planes illusion I had years and years ago and the pictures of your plane got me dreaming.

One more time - to order see info in post 31. If HRDFLITE says too much, he is advertising. That would not be allowed in the forums. Send him an email or follow the other links - not hard. Or: http://www.hobbybarn.com/

Yes Pete, top side is same as other one I have, good visibility scheme and keeps me from having to think about how to paint them. I have a different scheme on the bottom however and you'll have to wait until you see it at a contest in 2014 to see what it is.

Jim,
Don't know the weight but it's certainly over 7 lbs. If you add up the weight of all the hardware in this plane, engine, spinner, prop nut, prop, header, pipe, retracts, 7 servos, 2 battery packs, gas tank, motor mount, screws, pushrods, linkages, etc. (you get the picture) I'll wager that it goes over 5 lbs easily. I don't weigh the glue like some in the SPA do and I don't particularly like iron on covering for a glow fueled planes and I like to have a fairly nice finish on my planes so it would be what you consider on the heavy side. However, the Rossi piped engine has NO PROBLEM hauling a plane of this weight vertically as far as needed to do any of the present maneuvers in the CPA schedule. I think that if your emphasis is strictly on light weight like seems to be the trend among SPA members that you could come in under your weight limit with the Quality Line Super Curare and I think that you will absolutely love the way the plane looks and flys.

this monster begs to go into an Arrow or Arrow 800. Rob at Hobby Barn can set you up with one of those too.
Come to think of it, I will have to get a hold of him in the new year after Santa swings by... I've been dying to get one!

Rob,
Say hello to Bill for me, tell him I miss the old pattern flying days in the southwest. Wish we had another pattern contest with the old classics like the Curare like you folks in Tucson used to put on with the Tucson Winter Nationals. I can remember seeing over 100 entrants in just the Class A beginners class. Great times. I painted that scheme on a Vertigo II in 1976 and liked it then and I don't see any reason to change it in my old age.

Tim,
Sorry, no build page put together but I will tell you that I have built several of the Quality Line Curare's over the last 35 years and the location of the horiz stab on the fuselage has always been pretty accurate and almost all flew with very elev trim needed for straight and level flight. I don't think it's any tougher to get the anhedral stab squared away in the fuselage than it is for a conventional stab, just lots of measuring and eyeballing before it's tacked in place.

Tim,
send me an email to [email protected] and I'll send you the only picture I have of the Vertigo. However, I still have the Vertigo hanging on the wall so more pictures are possible.

You think the NovaRossi is too much? At 750ish square inches most of these planes would be OK fliers with a modern .47 - so I understand that with a modern performance .61 were are not talking about a trainer. I also understand that, despite with others may say, you can have too much power...

Err... yes, yes, maybe.
You won't have weight issues unless the plane is too heavy to start. You just might have CG issues but that can probably be taken care of by moving the battery pack back.
Like any radio/engine install, you have to locate the gear for proper balance.
