Jason,
That's one sweet looking pattern bird. It certainly has Skymaster overtones with a side mounted engine.
You're making great progress. I look forward to seeing them all geared up.
It would be great if you could weigh them both. It'll give me an idea if I can make my target 56 oz on the Nano's.

Dave,
The C-20 came in at 4lbs .7 oz... or 65oz rounded up dry weight ... Little on the heavy side but the 32sx plays a lil into that and also my heavy building due to field conditions ..Club is located on a old strip mine ...Its usually very nice kept but one small washout after a rain can do some landing gear damage if not secured .. Plus i sheet everything or fill in tail spars ect.. I just like them to be able to take a bump or two loading and unloading.. Not that i bang them around but if it happens it can ruin ones day to have a stab just flopping to one side due to a bump on the trailer door...
The ursa came in at 1lb 12.7oz or 29oz rounded up...But the ursa is just the frame.. No tank, motor, servos, landing gear, push rods, air tank, ect ect...
Cant post pics right now site is on the fritz..

Very nice looking plan, congrats.
Only thing I wouldnt use is a MA prop, APC or CF would be my choice.

Thank you for the kind words rafa..
The M/A prop is off my 40 ultra sport..Only small props i have..To big for the 32 sx
APC and wood props are what i usually use on the 60 size and carbon on larger 35%'s
Have a order in for a bunch of small props for the 32 sx's ...

If I remember correctly from the original caption on the Toledo website, the plane was finished by Faye Stilley. It said the clock was hand cut.
Thanks for the kind words chuck!
I think i am gona narrow it down to the sky20 or the BA 40..
The BA 60 i have been bothering a builder from my club to build that one for me..
Not that i cant build it or dont want to or wouldnt love to build it ...Its just he is one of the best builders on the planet..
And I want one or two planes built by this guy.. He wins toledo 9 out of 10 times he goes..
Just a bar none builder and his covering is just unreal..He builds 35% and 40% for imac and 3D for flyers all over the place..
Just got to catch him when he is not booked solid..
Pic of a plane he did in all Monokote...Throws the cowl out and builds a balsa one just so it can be covered..
Yes the clocks are all monokote !! Guy is unreal ..

Jim,
Yes all the clocks were hand cut. The workmanship on the entire plane is outstanding .. Builder/covering was done by Mark B. (not gona try to spell his last name) its a mouthful..
It was the 2007 show, i remember that because it was the last time i went to the toledo weak signals show..Plane is just a insane thing to look at, pictures just dont do it justice..
If i remember right he won 1st in momokote and 2nd in arobatic..not 100% sure on the 2nd in arobatic.. Just a great all around guy to talk to a asset to the hobby..He won a lot of nice items from
those shows ... Had a closet full of radios ect , few years back i helped him sell a few here on rcu.. I am gona contact him to see if he can send me more/better pics of that plane...The bottom of it was just as nice
as the top..

The UM turned out very nice!
So is that 4 lbs 1 oz all up dry? What JR servos are you using again? 48's?
What did you pick up prop wise for the SX's? Apparently they do very well on 10x6's same as the 40's. I'd be inclined to try 9x6 and 9x7's too though. The latter really ought to get her moving!

RE: Ursa major 25
David,
Thanks for the kind words..
Yes the c-20 total w/o fuel came in at 4lbs 1oz.. And yes jr48's for controls and a jr35 for throttle and a single action air valve by airpower for the retracts..
And i got a mixed bag of props in wood and apc .. Keeping it all in the 9" range, 9x6-7 the 10's cut to close to the ground for my comfort.. Stubby little nose strut on them both,
32 is kinda pushing for these size planes .. The UM is almost done now, motor in ,servos are all in, control rods are in the fuse, and cut and ready to be fitted in the wing..
Had to order a new nose strut for the UM ,I over bent the one for the C-20 and it broke ,had to swipe one for the UM now i am short one..Ordered them a few weeks ago from spring air and nothing from
the mail or ups yet..Should be all done by this weekend if i get my struts before hand..

Jason,
given your recent "off forum" exchange I thought it would be a good time to bump your threads to see how the two little bullets are flying.
I look forward to an update and some at the field shots.
Cheers, David

Outstanding Jason!
How do you like them 32 SX's? What fuel are you running in them? Are you turning 9x6's, 9x7's? They can also turn 10x6's well but ground clearance is the issue with these beautes!
How do you feel the Curare 20 compares to your 60 size? Faster no doubt but does it have a similar control response albeit a little more nervous perhaps?

RE: Ursa major 25
Dave,
Love the 32sx.. Ran great, no problems at all.. Normal os engine like the larger ones ..More power then a cheaper motor without the headaches...
No major power house just a good smooth fire up and forget motor.. Running coolpower 15% ..Both turning 9X6 APC..
As a shock to me the C-20 seemed a lil faster then the ursa...Both are about 4 clicks out to the rich side till everything settles in but i was kind of expecting the ursa
to be a bullet... Not to impressed with the smaller APC props, Seems to be to much flex in them ..
Yeah nerves were getting to me a lil...hadnt flown in a few years and it was windy and direction of the wind was not the same from min to min..
But u took my US 40 and Kaos 60 to clear the cobwebs and jitters...
Both shot straight off, wind helping a good bit and trimmed out pretty fast ,most was maybe 4 clicks..Now thats not perfect yet on the trim as it was trimmed with a gusty day, but its pretty close..
Didnt gear up either...Not at that field..I got to take some nose wheel turn out of the ursa , it will turn a 360 in place both directions lol.. But thats about it... Gona go to wood props and and start the leaning steps next
trip out.. I think the change will be stellar..

RE: Ursa major 25
Nice!
Jason, congratulations on a pair of great little classics. Enjoy them!
I haven't tried them yet but I got some Falcon wood props recently. I also picked up some Xoar wood props. I'm going to be running them in a 60 and let you know what I think of them. The Falcon's look promising although until they're flown I won't know how well they pull (wish I at least had a way to measure thrust on the bench).
