20 size goes together pretty easy.. MK kits almost snap together.. Once formers are in a jig becomes almost pointless due to the notch fitting system on the side rails..follow your lines and the plans..pretty simple once you get the tail straight..

I probably do things out of order then most do, but there is a method to the madness.. I always try to get every spec of balsa fuel proofed in the motor area.. So i build in, and fuel proof as i go.. Some areas you just cant get to if you build to fast in that area..So i build a little fuel proof then close more and fuel proof more..I had a c 20 many moons ago and flew it non stop and loved the little plane.. The only thing that grounded it was fuel soak.. Hundreds of flights on that plane and the fuel killed it.. so ever since that one i have built the way i do..Never had a fuel problem again..

The tune pipe shown in the picture is not going to be on this plane... Pretty sure i went with standard exhaust on new os 32 sx's .. Not 100% on that yet since i have not unpacked everything yet...More updates on equipment ect to follow.

Hard to tell from the pics's. But i build in flush with the first two spars in balsa.. Then i Ca tack my glass down then top sheet over it "off" center with slow Ca in the mesh area to top sheets..I do this for a couple reasons.. The slight off set on sheeting is so the center seams all dont stack on top of each other.. And keeping the glass under the sheeting gives me a smooth area to cover to.Without any loss of strength. I dont paint and the modeling world is much happier for it...

It's nice to see the fair number of 20 size classics being built these days. I think we are just missing Mattlas and Cosmos 20 threads now from the MK lineup. We could use some more Yioshioka and OK Model Prettner builds.
I'll probably post a "quick thread" of the glow and electric Mystic 30 builds I did last Winter once they're covered.

RE: MK Curare 20 build.
I loved the MK c20 back in the day.. This plane at this size holds a big spot in my heart, maybe even more then any larger plane i have or had..
Seeing all the 20 size plane threads is great, i know ill be trying to get my hands on many more... Been spending the last evening and tonight getting back up to speed on they hobby..
Funny i keep ending up on your build threads, great work dave.. Trying to get inventory of what i have and need..Its a bit daunting, have one RX used, that i know i bought new but dont know why its no longer in a plane..
Dont want to put it into one of the planes i got on the table... Go to order a few new ones only to find out they are semi out-dated now.. AR7000's dsm2.. Now there is dsm2,dsmx,dsxx all kinda crap i been reading..
China countefeit look alike spectrum rx/tx's lawsuits ect!! So now i am looking at a updated radio from my dx7... Cant buy my jetronic retract actuaters site is now insecure, so i had to buy the airpower version..(pic below)..
Plan on doing the local hobby shop run throughs this weekend, covering ect... hope to get some hard core build time in this weekend if all goes well...

Trying to pick up where i left off... To avoid linkage and space problems i use retract actuators ...One of the best things i have found to clear up clutter .. install of the cup's and retract wells and plmbing before it gets closed up.

The price i had to pay for taking a break.. After sheeting i noticed i didnt glass/epox the back trailing edge for more wing bolt support..Had to cut in and glass resheet in smooth it back out ...Hard to get back up to speed after a break and trying to do two at once...

Fuse mock up , more sanding filling needed ... Hole behind wing bolt is thin ply insert , only place i could see to put the retract fill valve... The new ones are pretty flush so it wont stick down like older ones do and there was no way it was gona fit up front insde the nose wheel area and still have access..

More rough fitting ...Notice no wing fillets yet... They are sanded and ready to go on but are so damn small i plan on covering them first since they are black and the fuse is white i dont want that headache of overlap or excact seam..

I figure i have a day or two more of filling sanding everything smooth as glass with no lines showing before covering can begin..These small ones should be fun to cover !
