I am looking for a set of plans either in digital form or hard copy form for Jim Kirkland Mustang X. This airplane was designed around 1971 and had a .40 to .46 engine. I will be happy to pay for the cost of getting a copy. Thank for the help and Happy New Year.

As far as I know Mustang X and "Miss America" is the same plane (they refer in the video to Miss America).
I believe Miss Amercia refer basicallyto the paint scheme it had (same as a full scale Mustang had, probably Howie Keefe P-51 Mustang that was named Miss America).

NATS 1972 was held at Glenview Naval Air Station Chicago acording to the video.

Although I never had one, I always admired this airplane, since I am an avid P-51 fan.  After seeing this thread, I went back and re-read the original article.  Would be interesting to see what could be done with this design today, with much better "hardware" options than were available in 1972.

I have often wondered about enlarging the plane to .60 size.

A modern rendition would also not require trike gear to be "competitive".
