Default Potential Pattern contest on MD Eastern shore

I am taking an informal survey regarding hosting of a ballistic pattern contest on MD Eastern shore in late 2013 or summer of 2014.

Is there any interest in folks traveling within an hour of DC/Baltimore/ 1.5 from Philly area to attend a contest.

We have a great field and there is plenty of IMAC activity in the area, just not sure how many pattern flyer's are out there any more.

Classes would be:

Beginner
Novice
Advance
Expert

Thanks

Tim Stagg

Ballistic pattern was a old term for the pre-turn around days... In 2010 BPA became CPA - Classic Pattern Association

In 2012 we flew 18 contest coast to coast and in 2013 the members of CPA voted in the new patterns which has the old Masters pattern where you pick you own maneuvers.

Here are a few links....

CPA Site - http://www.classicpatternassociation.com/

Patterns - http://www.classicpatternassociation.../1980-1981.pdf

The rule are pretty easy..... Fun , Fun, Fun

Pipes and retracts allowed !

Planes from the pre-turn around days...

Some photos of the 2012 events.......... http://www.classicpatternassociation.com/Photo_s.php

I know there will be several CPA pattern meets in NY & PA this year..

Thanks Scott for all of your info and clarifications. As i said I have been very active in control line competition over the last 5 years and still plan to be very active. But I am missing the old pattern days and would love to start a local contest.

I will keep working the contest with my club and plan to host an event in 2014. There is some interest with my local club, but they are very supportive of any event that members would like to host.

Look for a classic pattern association event in 2014. suggestions for the month would be good, our calender fills up quickly with IMAC, fun fly, control line events etc.

Judging would be my one area of concern, with my control line event, I can always rely on my friends to help out with judging....I assume this Pattern event would be the same way, but not knowing folks and assuming....you know what happens when you assume.

Scott, do you think this would be an issue??

Thanks .

Tim

Tim,

It is contestant judging like back in the day... I will be sending out a email to the CPA members soon and also ask about interest in your area. Maybe something in the CPA newsletter also.

Your estimation seems right takes me 5 hours to get to Connecticut line on 95.

Will be happy to provide more details as I know them
