Ron,
Thanks for the NovaRossi link on Youtube. I just watched it. I can't afford a Ferrari...but I can afford a NovaRossi and I am definitely going to get one. Back in the 70's I flew the piped Rossi Blackhead 60 side-exhaust. It was the best engine I ever had...and I hear these new NVs are even better. I'm gonna go B-A-L-L-I-S-T-I-C!!!
I don't always fly R/C...but when I do, I fly FASST. Fly well my friends.

JCINTEXAS, take a look at the latest thing out of the NovaRossi Factory. The PURPLE HEADED BEAST ...
Just so you will know this is the motor that we will give to the winner of the Classic Pattern Master class @ our contest June 29/30 Mac Hodges Field Americus Ga.

Now that is one mean-looking engine. I would really like to get one....never had a rear-exhaust engine. Which pattern planes designed for rear-exhaust would you recommend?

RE: Novarossi Factory
JC,
I have that motor mounted in a Tipo with the head sticking out of the right side (from behind) and the pipe running down the side of the fuselage. I'm only using this to do some testing on the motor with different pipes and props. I also have 3 more airplanes that will use this motor. One is my new Bootlegger and I have a new Tiger tail 3 that will work, the last one is a EU-1 A that has an old Rossi Black head and needs to be replaced. I'm sure there are many more that you could find that will work as there are many new kits being reproduced ...

RE: Novarossi Factory
I think RCaiir has a fiberglass kit of the Bootlegger and for the EU-1 its a great airplane, you just have to be real careful about getting it too heavy, as it's a very big airframe..

Hi JC,
The one's dave mentioned are great, also the Aurora, Atlanta 60, Citation and Arrow are designed for rear exhaust engines, available from RCAiir. His website is half done, but rcaiir.com has the contact and Don will send you a price list for all of his kits, glass fuselage, foam wings and stabs, plans, drawings, and templates for the wood stuff.

Thanks for the info on R/C Air. I saw Matt fly his Arrow at the TOC back around '75-76 and he flew it great. I've seen the plans on the Great Escape and sure like the way it looks.

JC-
I read somewhere nearby that BlueJay is releasing the Great Escape kit in late July. I believe you can pre-order now if you wish.
I have to let my bank account fill back up before I can go on another spending spree first! BlueJay stands for quality!

Brian,
I sure do understand about replenishing the bank account. I have a Piggy Bank to save up for buying planes and equipment...and right now it's darn near empty. I've had some unusual expenses lately. I am going to sell one or perhaps two 3D planes and use the proceeds to get a classic pattern plane. I'm still trying to decide which plane to get. I'd like to get the GP Dirty Birdy ARF, but I am also wanting to get a RE NovaRossi and don't think the DB is a good choice for the RE engine. Any and all suggestions about airplanes are very welcome.

Here is Dons email [email protected]
I have a Bootlegger I got from him that I will start on soon. Don does a great job on the glass work and the wings and stabs are good and straight

Hey JC you can make it work in the DB ARF! It’s well worth the effort.
Here is one of mine that’s a Blast to fly!

Paul,
I don't know if I'd seen those pics before but that model is very well done, that ARF DB looks good with that pipe down the side.
I've seen Eric's blue head Nova Rossi fly his A Mystery ship and it's great running engine. I was very impressed with it and can't wait to try my Speed in my new ship.

Paul,
You have solved the dilemma with your very neat modification where the RE header exits the cowl. Instead of just cutting a hole or slot, your plane looks like it came out of the box already set up for a RE engine. Nicely done. Please tell me how you did this. With your set-up, you don't have to remove the pipe (or finagle around it) to put the wing on and take the wing off. Thank you for helping me reach a decision. It's going to be the GP Dirty Birdy ARF and the black NovaRossi RE engine. That spells B-A-L-L-I-S-T-I-C with a capital B. Have you clocked your DB on radar? Back in the '70's, I flew the Vertigo II with a piped Rossi 60 blackhead. A friend (who also flew R/C) was a Texas State Trooper. On occasion he would bring his radar gun to the flying field. He clocked my Vertigo at 136mph. I had just pulled out of a big Split-S and was in level flight at about 20 ft when it flew over the top of his police car. SHAZAM...that was fun!
Best Regards

Hey JC,
If I'm not mistaken, you can look through the Dirty Birdy ARF Build Thread in this forum, and you will see where Paul describes and shows how he modified his ARF........
Hey Paul,
Where did you find your carburetor covers?
Take care,
David
