Default Sun Fli IV build

I've kinda been tired of expensive arf's that aren't really worth what they cost and construction that leaves a lot to be desired plus limited designs available so I decided to build a classic pattern plane from the 60's...Bridi Sun Fli IV .
I've been surprised by the building materials I used to use that are not available any more...but I'm getting there.

Balsa flies better especially when you built it. Looks nice.

Thanks...I started with a Bluejay kit but made quite a few changes to make it more like the original SF4 which was by Kalifornia Models back in the day. Guess I'm showing my age cause I remember when those kits were out and I have a copy of the original plans.

I've been flying my Sun Fli IV for close to three years now. Mine was also from a Bluejay kit. This was just about the best kit I have ever built. I liked it so well, I have built 4 other Bluejay kits and fould that all were fantastic fliers. I covered mine with Solartex with a GMS up front. The GMS isn't the most powerful motor out there but I cruise at about 65% throttle with no problems. I use an Airtronics padkage for guidance. Aside from a Blujay Lodestar 40 I use for orientation flights and relaxation flying, the Sun FLi is the best landing plane in my small fleet.
I'm confident you'll be more then happy with your choice.

I'll have to agree with you Steve..I had two original Bridi Kaos' and an original Sun Fli 4 and one outstanding trait of both designs was the ease and smoothness of the landings. I'm putting a new Webra Speed 61 on this one so power should not be an issue.

All the Sun Fli series are SPA and CPA legal...the SF4 was designed in 1969 .
