Default Benito Bertolani`s Komet

Benito Bertolani, 13-time RC1 Champion and Italian TOC (Tournament of Champions, Las Vegas) winner flew his very competitive model Komet into the 1980’s.

He was infected at 10 years of age with the model flying virus! At age 25, he started flying R/C. In the course of several years, his flying skills made him one of the most successful F3A (RC1) aerobatic competitors.During the period 1970 to 1988, he represented Italy at international contests, at both European and World levels. In 1983, he founded B.B. Models in Lucca, Italy. He turned his hobby into his profession. He produced several flying models and accessories. The contest-flyer Komet was one of his products.

In 1993, he turned his firm over to his 4 best employees and started flying competitive Free-Flight events, in which he is still active.

His successes:

*13-Times Italian Champion in aerobatics, Category F3A (RC1)
*Twice Italian Champion in aerobatics, Category SPORT
*European Champion in aerobatics, Category Sea Planes
*Frequently in Top Ten of the F3A (RC1) at World and European levels
*6-Times contestant at TOC (Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas, where only the world’s best pilots are invited to participate)
In 1993, he ended his RC1 aerobatic career, and went back to his model-flying roots of free-flight, in which he remains very successful and represents Italy on and international level.

Benito at Ozzano Show Italy 2015 with our Komet

The great-looking design of the Komet has always beckoned to be reproduced. Benito then gave us his OK to manufacture and distribute this beauty. Our Komet is an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) package and is produced using the most modern CNC technology. Construction materials are promarily balsa and plywood. The model is covered with Oracover (a high-quality German iron-on covering material), a guarantee for long life and good looks. The Komet is delivered complete with all accessories, but without electronic systems, retractable gear and engine. The proud owner can install a 10 cc. combustion engine or an appropriate electric motor. We offer an electric-powered retractable landing gear as an accessory.

About Classicpattern.com

We’ve been closely involved with competitive flying models for several decades. Through these associations, we’ve established solid connections to many past and present model airplane aerobatic champions. We’ve taken on the challenge once again, offering these previous winning designs to today’s model airplane enthusiasts, either as an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) package or as a “build it yourself” kit. In view of today’s environmental situation, we are employing today’s standardized construction methods, and designed these models to use either quiet electric power or 2- or 4-stroke model engines.
