MK Aurora 60
I just received an MK Aurora 60 kit that I purchased on E-Bay. Does anyone know anything much about the Aurora, ie how it flies, what I can expect of it etc.
The kit is a genuine MK kit and the same quality as you used to expect from MK
TIA

Singapore Hobbies have a good few of the original MK kits. They seem to be makng some of them again. I bought the Curare 60 only a couple of months ago. Same excellent quality

RE: MK Aurora 60
The MK Aurora, like all the MK kits, was a well engineered kit and a great flyer for the day -- one of the best. I never had the MK version but built the Phillips Aircraft glass and foam version which was an exact copy of the MK built up version. I liked the flying qualities enough that I made a plug and molds and cut my own foam (after Phillips was out of business) and made several more for myself and friends. It started out using the YS short stroke 60 rear exhaust and the last couple used the YS long stroke 61. Set up straight it is a very honest ship requiring little to no mixing for rudder coupled pitching in knife edge. I got my first one because I saw so many others flying well at contests in the mid 80's. Naruke, from Japan, won the worlds with it. Try it, you'll like it!

I am restoring my 16 year old Aurora, and I required a replacement canopy. Nearly impossible to get anywhere in the states. The folks at Singapore hobby were able to help, and I had the canopy within 10 days of ordering it. Was not expensive at all, including the shipping.

Would be nice if there were some prices posted on their site.

Their website is not an e-commerce site, therefore probably the lack of pricing.

"Darn! No Speeda listed! "
I had a Speeda in the 80s and I think the kit was not MK. The Speeda was a ripoff of the MK Blue Angel. The Blue angel is still available.
Good Luck!

You'll see a text-link in the reply window when you hit the "post reply" button. The image upload option is not available in the "fast reply" window.

Beautiful aircraft! Looks fantastic with the original trike gear. Don’t you hate it when people hack up these beautiful and classic designs and make them tail draggers!!

RE: MK Aurora 60
I'm flying an Aurora 60 , as a tail-dragger, with OS 61 Hanno.
It flies very well, but fast. You need to fly the figures with a lot of speed. This is very easy because this plane will not slow down. Mine has no bad habbits. I will glide forever
I should not hesitate to build it.
